Fuel to carb issue

So I have an 89 FJ with a fuel pump, I'm currently in the process of rebuilding it and I'm having a fuel delivery issue, I've verified that the pump is working (got sprayed in the face????) and I have a new tank so I know it's not plugged up anywhere before the pump, what I'm wondering is whether the floats could just be gunked up or if there's something else I'm missing because it pops right off when you spray a bit of brake clean into the inlets, I was thinking maybe it's due to that nipple on the back of the tank towards the seat because I just assumed that was an overflow or something, didn't leak at all and I haven't found a line that seems to go to it, any insight would be much appreciated ????

The nipple at the back of the tank is an overflow drain that is connected to the recessed area where the tank cap resides. If you spill fuel, or over fill the tank, the excess fuel drains out from this recessed area thru this drain.
You should have a hose on the drain nipple to direct the fuel to the ground.

A couple of Q's
When was the last time this bike ran?
Is the run/stop rocker switch set in the run position?
Did you store the carbs with E10 fuel in the bowls?
Do you have a fresh fuel filter installed?
If you have less than 1.5 gallons in the tank, do you have the reserve switch set to reserve (RES)?

It is possible that your carbs are gummed up and in need of disassembly and cleaning.

Fret not....We will get to the bottom of this....

Welcome to the forum...Cheers.   Pat

Okay so from what the previous owner said it hasn't ran in a couple of years and they claimed to have cleaned the carbs, but it started right up on brake clean and once started wanted to keep going so long as I held the throttle above 3k, now as soon as I let go of the throttle it dies out and doesn't wanna start back up till I give it some more motivating sprays from the can, that bein said she sounds amazing up until I let it die back down, side note I just replaced the line going from the tank to the filter cuz it was leaking and a bit too large for the nipple, and set the tank to reserve also

The idle and pilot circuits in the carbs are gummed up. Time for a disassembly and real cleaning.
While you have the carbs apart for cleaning, replace all the O rings and those butter soft JIS phillips with some SS Allen's.
