Today, 4th October 2022, is 33 years To The days since I first wheeled my brand new 3CV out of Ace Motorcycles, in Chapel en le Frith, Derbyshire. What a momentous day that turned out to be. Not in my wildest dreams did I think that 33 years later, she'd still be my favourite and I'd still be owning and riding her.

Very nice!  As another owner of a fine '89, the bike is older than I was when I bought it.

Ye gods - that seemed ancient to me when I got my FJ, at age 23.  I wasn't old enough to know better!

Yeah, I got my first one at 25 - I'd just gotten my first job with a company car, so sold my own car, took the cash to my local dealer at the time (Queens Park Motorcycles, in Manchester) and just asked them what was the biggest and fastest bike I could get at the time. The guy pointed me to the FJ 1200 and a VF 1000 F that were both in the showroom and said either one would do. I'd been riding around on my CB 650 for 4 and a half years and was really ready for something with a bit more power, especially now that I could afford "something stupid".

I loved that first 1TX, did nearly 50k miles on her in the just over 3 years that I owned her. In 89, my new boss gave me a decent pay rise, told me that meant I could afford a new FJ........... and he bought my old one from me (he was a great boss  :good2:).
