Hah!
New tires arrived!
61,000 miles on the bike
Both bike and I, 61.
Thinking about the ritual burnouts on the old tire.

I went with the Avon Storm 3D XM tyres. $263.00 delivered.

They arrived in 2 days, from Dennis Kirk. I've bought from them, off and on, for decades.

They used to send out good catalogs, remember catalogs?

Price changes are instantly implemented in these modern times. Not so easy back then.

Avon Spirits were on the bike, no complaints but they may have worn quicker than anticipated.

I couldn't pull the trigger on the Shinko's.

I've had good luck with Avon, peace of mind.

Anyone else have anything to share on tires?

Anyone try the Shinko VTwin Drag tire is the 150/80-16?

I am impressed with the Avon 3D radials, especially the oem sized 150/80-16 back tire, even to a point of thinking that why go to the trouble of converting the rear rim over to a 17" size, when this 16" Avon handles and wears so well?

Then I'm reminded of the vast 17" selection options and if Avon ever discontinues the 150/80-16 size, you're screwed.

Still...I'm very happy with that 150/80-16 Avon radial on my '89.

Alas...Unfortunately yes, that Avon was a good tire but I saw the writing on the wall......so I converted my '89 over to the 17" YZF600 back rim last year.
The 170/60-17 Michelin Road 6 is also a very good rear tire.

I'm going to have to get to work on researching that conversion, yet, still holding back hope decent tires in our now quirky size will return.....

I need to mount up these Shinko's and give them a fair shake.

7000 miles is what I was able to get out of the 3D's, and that might be a record for me.

Officially changed out at 69,000 miles or so, and I am stunned, 8000 miles out of the Avon's.

Possibly the longest life I've ever obtained on any motorcycle, and I attribute it more to me just flat out being older and riding softer.

Added a pic of the bike on the centerstand wheel-less.

Another taken with a weird lens setting with new tires but the bike has a fisheye effect, it's ok.

Busted out for a 190 mile ride with a buddy on his GL1800.

Zero issues, zero concerns, the Shinko tires, albeit new, performed admirably.

Actually, I like them. There, I said it, we will see if that lasts.

Made a run early this morning to check our local 400 year old tree. It's good.

Another 500+ miles and plenty of smiles -

So far the tires handle on par with anything else I've tried.
