Reading Wiring Diagrams

Hi All

These plug diagrams have me stumped when reading a wiring diagram.

What are they trying to tell me.

My basket case FJ1200 has terrible wiring that I need to sort out.

In your picture, you are looking at 13 pin plug that has 2 sides, the male and female.
The top half of the rectangle is the female plug....the bottom half is the male plug.
The circles with split colors indicate the pins for wires with a colored stripe.
It is customary on the split circles to show the left side color to be the wire color, and the right side color is the stripe color, although this should be confirmed.

I can't comment on the actual color code or origin of the wires, I don't have enough information.

Please note that on the drawing for the connector symbol, the female side (recessed in plastic), has a double line boxing in the pins.  This double line represents the plastic shell surrounding the pins on the female connector.  The male side has only a single-line box around the pins.

Before you get too wrapped around the axle, so to speak, it is helpful to lay out the wiring harness on top of the bare bike frame, minus tank and seat.  Connect every sub-harness that becomes obvious, until you you have few (if any) plugs still open.  Check for any missing sub-harnesses, preferably on an identical bike or in stock pix.  Check to see if any of the missing wiring branches have a Part Number, and do a Search for that part by words (as in "FJ1200 Generator Wiring"), then again by Part Number only.  Try the breaker (recycling) yards, if possible.  Email to them, for what you need.

Here is the colour coding I'm dealing with on my FJ at the moment.

yep, previous owner covered it all in black paint.
