Last week we took another break in our new motorhome and headed up to the west coast of Scotland for a few days of kayaking and cycling. It's the first time we've been up there for many years and we'd forgotten just how beautiful the scenery and the places are.

Stopping off mid way to meet up with a couple of friends who were joining us, the journey took 20 hours (500 miles) and the weather going up was at times awful, but at least while we were there, the rain only really hit us hard at night and we managed to avoid most of the daytime showers. Here's a couple of photos of our set-up and journey - very happy the bus was giving 25 mpg at a steady 70 mph  :good2:. I'll post a few activity photo's afterwards.

3 different cycle rides, not excessively long, but interesting and fun with awesome scenery and only one blip (a puncture).

Our Kayaking activities involved one afternoon trip around the islands just offshore from our camp site, around 4 miles in total and a couple of trips where we just played in the swell and off-shore. the first day, there was no wind, the sea was dead flat and smooth as glass (taking photo's was easy). The second and third days, the sea was rough, it was windy (an on-shore wind, thankfully) and it was raining, so no photo's were taken and we stayed close to shore, not venturing more than 150 yards - and yes, we did get tipped out a few times, but the water was warm and it was great fun. :sarcastic: I did get record of our route around the islands (just shy of 4 miles)  :good2:

Been into hospital today to have my final pre-op assessment for my "total hip replacement". Hopefully this means surgery will be in 4-6 weeks - once they have all my test results back from today, they'll schedule the surgery as soon as possible, assuming my results are good, then it's a final blood test 3 weeks before and then a Covid test 10 days before.

Once I've got my new titanium thigh/hip/pelvis, I'll be cycling much further (without pain-killers) and we'll be able to get back to our hiking and climbing  :good2: :good2: :good2:

Roll on 2022..........
