Today I learnt something else.
We already know not to attempt complex repairs a few weeks out from a rally if we're planning on attending that rally.
We know that it gets messy if you start your engine with the clutch slave uninstalled.
We know it's a good idea to make note somewhere, when we do our routine maintenance.
I was right into the habit of faithfully recording tire changes, oil changes, and the like.
However the devil is in the details.
There we are at the shop today, about to pop in a new set of wheel bearings. Front was standard, but the rear was a 17 inch yzf 600 conversion. And that's where things got a little more involved.
Firstly I couldn't remember what the rear wheel was from, only that I won it at a rally back in maybe 2008.
Mark Olsen solves the dilemma; suggesting I search back through my posts using the 'profile' button at the top of the page, then hit the link to members last post.
And there it was. 74 pages of past comments  - the original 2009 change of bearings post with part numbers and dimensions.
Ordered and waiting on the post man.
So the moral of the story is two fold;
Keep an Fj log of all that you fix or upgrade including model numbers and years of manufacture
This web site is an incredible resource; but you probably did know that already and this post is just a reminder.

FYI....It's a Jon Cain conversion, I used a 97-99 YZF600 rim.

Now I know even more.
The whole incident gave opportunity to call Marsh and see what he was up to. Now lives in Colorado, so will probably meet up with him on this years trip to Chicago.
All these years and I wasn't aware of my complete Conlon conversion.
I've always had my eye on your rear Pat and of course that wonderful, full head of hair.

Pat, maybe the man himself will comment ( see post above yours).
All this time and some questionable banter concerning sleeping arrangements, smokes out a post from Klavdy.
I think this wrestling with dormant feelings of confusion have kept him away from motorcycles.
He's been exploring alternative lifestyles in Sydney's Kings Cross area.
Those kind of endeavors usually keep one out of the saddle.

It's definitely an "alternative lifestyle" these days compared to years gone by !

Nasty stuff, hope you've got a good physio person, hope it improves a bit quicker now.
Will you loose any knee mobility?

Remind me not to do that, I wouldn't like the inactivity while I was mending, straight jacket might be required.
