Recovery of my Stolen FJ1200

Many on here know that I had a 1989 FJ1200 stolen close to 4 years ago. This was my pride and joy and was just about flawless. I have been notified by Wichita Police Department by a letter that it has been recovered. The condition will make you cry. But.... from the few photos that were sent. It DOES NOT look to have been wrecked. All the fairings are gone, but the engine is what I want to verify too be in good condition. This engine has a Wiseco 1297cc Superlite piston kit. The bike officially belongs to the Geico Insurance company. I have called and left a message with my claim agent.

Wow!  That's a shame.  Any idea if it's the same engine?  Still have your gauges?

I was just wondering about this bike a few days ago.

Appears to have the same clutch cover.

I can't believe they found it locally and still basically intact.  Hopefully they found the asshole

Looks like the speedhut gauges too.

Thieves suck. I found this poor bike beside the road a couple days ago. The poor thing only had 32,000 miles.the rear tire looked new not a speck of rust on the headers. It looked like it had been well cared for and somebody left it on the side of the road with out the front wheel and set it on fire. I don't know what happened to the tank and seat. If I knew it was going straight to the dump I would have taken it home and salvaged the good parts from it but it could belong to someone like Fred who might like the parts back at least.

I am 100% certain that it is the 1297cc motor. It a a Royal Purple spin on filter, an XJR1300 Alternator and the aftermarket ignition Rotor cover that I installed.

Awesome!  Hopefully you can get it back reasonably.  Curious how many miles were put on it

Thieves are thieves because they're too stupid and lazy to do anything else.  One upside is it looks like they had no idea what they stole or it would have been parted out already.  If you plan on getting it back and restoring it, I have several pairs of side covers.  I could send you a set for free if you need them.  I think there is one set where all the pegs are still there.  I'll have to check my stash.  You can let me know through this thread or PM me.  They're all red & white so they would have to be repainted.

IF I am able to get the bike back. IF the engine has had no ill effects from it's 4 year excursion. The engine will get the oversize valve head that is currently on the 95 and then installed in Casper. I'll put Casper's engine in the 89. Keep the inverted forks on the 89 and maybe do a Street Fighter with these two examples as inspiration.

I'd like to see an FJ fighter done with your attention to detail.  Good luck.

I know somebody on the list that might soon have some righteous go-fast parts suitable for a fighter...

Wow 4 years already, time does fly. Well lets hope there is oil still in it and knowing how tough FJ motors are you might be in luck. F ing morons. I hope they all suffer irrectile disfunction starting 4 years ago.

andyoutandabout

I remember returning from a summer trip out east, looking for that bike on the highway. I had played out a whole chance meeting at a gas station, where I would be quizzing the 'owner' on where he got it and other such details before attacking them mercilessly until the voices in my head told me to stop. Or something like that. But alas, I did not get the opportunity.
Anywho, what luck to get something back after all this time. Hope the insurance company is agreeable.

I went and got a 1st hand look at the recovered FJ1300. They guy at the tow yard gave me much needed direction on the best way to get the bike back.

Loads of good bits right there. Worth a reclaim without doubt.
