What's that ringing noise?

I finally got the bike out into the driveway to start it up and possibly take it for a quick ride to the gas station.  As I was doing my walk around I heard an odd ringing noise and I couldn't figure out where it was coming from.  Then I saw one header pipe vibrating and found the issue underneath the bike.

My uncle lives close by, so I plan on riding it to his place so he can throw on a few spot welds.  Then I can take the whole exhaust off the bike for a more thorough fix.

Our FJs are unfortunately getting to the point where some of the aftermarket parts are already at end of their life and are much harder to replace now!

Can you post pics of the full exhaust?  Is this the plain steel system?  Usually see the stainless steel systems

Both my V & H and my Kerker systems rusted very quickly in the UK weather and roads - I was forever removing, de-rusting and repainting them. Presumably mild steel construction.

Reason I ask is I have a mild steel super trap header for the FJ - but never had the correct mid pipe or muffler.  I bought one off eBay that looked about right.  I added a short extension between the header and mid pipe and it fit perfectly - even matched the angle of the side plate/rear foot rest bracket well.   I'm curious what the intended parts look like!

That's what I like about the Kerker system. The mid pipe tucks in nicely below the side bracket...it's unfortunate that the muffler can breaks off....

Save your primary head pipes, upgrade your 4 into 1 merge collector.

Burns merge collectors are the best.

I'll try to take good picture sometime today and post it

Here's the full exhaust.  Since two of the headers are still attached, I think I can pull the whole thing off and try to repair it for the season.  After this year the whole bike is going to get torn down.

Is your muffler supported?

Yep, it uses the bolt right in front of the passenger foot peg.  I think that's the same location as the stock muffler, but it's been so long since I've seen a stock bike.
