It's possible but I doubt it. Self healing problems usually return. I posted that I had a similar problem and suspected my kill switch was causing it because I could snap it on and off and the problem  would go away temporarily. I have since taken the switch apart and cleaned and polished the contacts and the problem has not returned.

I think I will still go and take the switch apart like you mentioned.  I'm also thinking of taking off my ignition cylinder and going over that.  I can't get it into the locked position so I assume it needs some disassembly and lubrication.

We had to clean the ignition contacts on my kid's 84 Magna.  The bike kept dying on him.
