I admit, I probably spend too much time on facebook.

Having started a couple of popular groups, it's almost like a job.

And the backgammon is excellent (when I am winning).

Recently I was invited to a group, "Motorbike Humour", that clearly stated two things:


  • They are only jokes.
  • Nobody gives a fuck about your feelings.

So when someone posted about the weather being too bad for them to ride, I commented:

"Don't be a puss!"

And almost instantly, one of the facebook bots caught it and gave me a 24 hour ban.

Censorship sucks, and facebook sucks even more.

They are quickly becoming the next AOL, Yahoo, eBay, any number of internet sites that turn into crap.

Crap, pure fucking crap.

facebook is the bully and they need to block themselves. And they harrassed me. Douchebag hypocrites.

I left FB as well. I don't have a cell phone, access the web via an elderly Ipad, that struggles at some sites, which, keeps me from killing too much time on the blue screen.

Don't be afraid to drop out, either for a while, or, permanently.

I've never joined FB.  Never will!

Mostly I am on forums for vehicles I own - a couple of bikes, a couple of cars, my airplane, and my sailboat.  Useful for technical help and you find like minded people to correspond with. 

Except for the technical help, I am not sure it is an improvement from the 1980s.  It is time that could be spent doing other things.

Short story...well maybe not so short.
When the book of faces started many years ago I signed up.  Shortly thereafter, when I found out what they were all about, I tried to cancel...easier said then done.  Anyways it seems that FB marketplace is now the go-to place to sell your junk stuff so I tried to re-enlist.  They won't let me back on unless I send them a picture of either my drivers license or my passport...WTF!
With all the face recognition BS in the works let alone the other info on your DL, I'm not giving that stuff out.  I have no idea what a bad actor could do with it and don't want to find out.   :diablo:

FB has always been crap.  Any time you give people a chance to just puke out anything they want in the spur of the moment to a broad audience it is crap.  People used to have to take the time to compose a letter to the editor to get on a large soapbox.  I think the effort that took was a good thing.

No fb for me, I call it fake book, 95% on it is total rubbish, was on it for a couple of weeks :dash2:, was hard to get out of it, will never rejoin!

Bit of a double edged sword I think.
I've had some good interactions and seen some great cat videos in the past, but I have to admit, my feed seems all adverts and bad mouthing these days....
and I don't think its the company I keep
Anyway, its supposed to be a democracy, so if you don't dig it, don't use it and that's that.
I like to look in from time to time, but I'm not getting all bent outta shape if people don't show their approval of every move I make.
