I cannot make it this year, I was holding out as long as I could but reality has kicked in. This will be a really good rally.

If I can get the ingredients, maybe I could send up a fire starter kit with a SoCal attendee driving/riding up.

Bummer Kurt... you were a shoe in for the farthest travelled! The list as it stands then... Confirmed: Frank (Flynt) and Diane Rick (ZOANOM) Midget Mike Ron Oort Travis (T Legg) Ian (I Legg, aka "The Bone") Andyoutandabout Possible: Craig Zari It's looking like mid-70's and sunny for Friday and Saturday rides, but I'd bring a cool vest if you've got one as it might be hotter than forecast. I have a couple routes planned, out towards John Day Fossil Beds via Antelope, Shaniko, and Fossil... this is pretty much the ride we did with Ramos along when Andy broke down in Oregon a couple years back. The other will be up to the Columbia River Gorge via Maupin and then back to the Palisades via Hood River and Mt Hood... spectacular roads and views on both routes. If the Mt Hood weather doesn't cooperate I have a backup ride of Cascade Lakes loop extended out to Newberry Caldera and Lake Paulina... In any case, we're going to have some spectacular PNW riding together boys... I'll start a PM thread for those attending to get into more details, but general plan is to meet up 0900 Friday morning at the Cove Marina cafe for breakfast and then depart by 1000 or so. Thursday afternoon/evening we'll setup a "welcome to Oregon" gathering for those that can make it, probably at my house which is essentially at the Palisades. More to follow on PM... Frank

Quick report out on 2021 WCR...
Attendees:
Frank (Flynt) and Diane Rick (ZOANOM) Midget Mike Ron Oort Travis (T Legg) Ian (I Legg, aka "The Bone") Andyoutandabout Craig Zari
We had a few mechanicals starting with Wizard's rear shock blowing the seal the week before... I rode '84 FJ solo and the '16 BMW GS with Diane onboard. Andy's exhaust collector broke, but he was able to stabilize with Al flashing and a couple big hose clamps. Travis broke his chain and frag'd the side of his engine, but he was able to coast into our first rest stop where we had lunch and waited for Ian to return with their truck/trailer... the Travis rode Ian's Kawasaki for the second day. Craig got a flat tire the second day near the end of the ride, but Ron had the fix on hand... Then Ron killed his battery Saturday night and initiated a spontaneous day of relaxation on Sunday. By Tuesday everyone had returned home safely, so all's well that ends well...
Riding was good to great, but we did suffer from a couple of pretty windy days. I'll leave further commentary to the other riders, but I had a great time and was delighted to "host" the event. We learned some things this time around look forward to doing it again sometime. The miles and miles of turns from Shaniko to Fossil will surely bring people back... and the riding to the West is equally amazing, but not quite open in all cases yet. Best time for an Oregon Rally is probably Fall...
Thanks to all that made the trek and I hope it was worth the effort...
Frank
