Thanks Dan, the red plug was on my check list.....I'll do the Transpo VR mod after I get home.

I'm looking forward to the trip and checking out your new digs.

Thanks Mark!

Any word on when this is going down? I'm 'sorta in the neighborhood, wouldn't mind being there.

Got the  carbs back from RPM. Replacing the manifold orings. Got rid of the hanging idle. And the rebuilt carbs. Runs smooth as butter. The rebuilt clutch slave is still leaking, slightly. I will always buy new from RPM. Until they aren't available.

Hey Dan, I got your PM and yes...my order is already in with RPM...I'm getting sent to you a new clutch slave, a rebuild kit for the front brake m/c, some extended reach snap ring pliers (just in case you don't have them) and some crush washers...
They will be shipped on Monday...should get there by the time I arrive on the 16th.

Very common to have rebuilt clutch slave leaks....the aluminum bore gets pitted...new seals don't work.

Thank God for Robert @ RPM and his excellent carb service....that ultrasound cleaning is the way to go...

Cheers

How many are coming to wish Pat safe travels back to Arizona? Looks to be a 5 hour commute for me here in the cities, and I'm going to leave after work on Thursday, and hopefully show before sunset.
I'll hang around until Dan throws me off the place, either Friday or Saturday.
Doing a chain service and an oil change, maybe a wash and wax. Looking forward to the ride and meeting a few of the gents.

Dan,
It's almost all good.

What wasn't good was I was changing the oil and servicing the chain in the 89 FJ, and the wind today took the filter housing off the bench, and broke the outside flange of the oil filter housing. Ouch. I installed a new O ring, but, sure as hell, there are a couple of drops on the floor under the bike. This one hasn't leaked a drop since I bought it. I already ordered the spin on kit from RPM and a half dozen small filters, but, if they don't arrive in time, I'll have a bike that drips a bit under me.

Hey, what are friends for?

I'm sure I have a couple of stock housings around here . But I  don't know where anything is.

This became a disaster.

Looked on the bike this morning, and there are perhaps two teaspoons of new Castrol air cooled motorcycle synthetic 10W40 on the floor. The O ring is bulging out of the broken edge of the casting. I have no confidence at all of running the bike 5 hours anywhere, no spare oil housing, do have the spin on conversion and some filters ordered from RPM, but, suspect there isn't a snowballs chance in hell they will be here by Thursday.

If you are a central MN FJer, with an extra oil filter housing (stock) on hand, and are reading this REACH OUT, please. I really want to go.

I hope someone local can loan you one. So you can come. Or maybe rpm. They are surprising how fast things get here.

RPM - Robert

Got home around 0200 from the races down in Fontana this weekend. Got Teds adapter shipped around 0900, it should be there in time. USPS is pretty good getting stuff there in 2-3 days with regular priority mail. I checked UPS overnight it was $107 and 2nd day air was $76.

Pat Conlon

The RPM spin on filter adaptors are the bomb....(as my grandkids would say)

Yep. Don't leave home without one. :sarcastic: I have 2 mounted. And one waiting to go on the turbo bike.
