My initial thoughts on the bike is to keep it stock ish.
FZR 3.5" front rim, RPM front suspension, Fork brace, blue spots w/FZ1 m/c, Galfer lines. Penske shock. RPM spin on filter, UniPods, I like that Avon radial 3D Storm 150/80-16 back tire, so I think I'll keep the 16" back rim (for now) ......................................

For a start price of $2k, I can afford ~$1k in mods, I'll have a well sorted, like new 7500 mile FJ....in theft resistant white.

There's a saying over here that someone looking at a situation and seeing things in an unfeasiblly positive manner is "looking through rose tinted glasses".

Pat.....if you can get all of that stuff for ~$1k you're either getting seriously special discounts (like for free  :sarcastic:)  on those parts prices, or you're "looking through very FJ tinted glasses"

Or.........maybe you've contracted that virus again that's hit us all......moditis

And......thank you for the offer, I really do hope to take you up on that one day soon  :good2:

question $'s on projects!   You never know Who may be looking over your shoulder!

Besides, I think Pat made a typo on that - I'm sure he meant $100!

Well at least this shows that you're perfectly sane Pat, like the rest of us, with just a hint of Moditis  :good2:

Glad to see some one on this forum bought that bike and it couldn't have been a better person.    :good:

:hi: Thanks Dave....Dean, yeppers, I know the moditus bug very well.....listen to Chris....he knows all about Uber expensive $$$ and Uber fast .... FJ's.

Chris, without getting you into trouble, can you give us just a ballpark figure you've spent on your FJ?
I would bet $60k+ figuring all the FI and NOS systems you've run and all the engines....

I'm glad you got that bike, Pat. I thought about it, but, I really am a "one is enough" motorcycle kind of guy. I love the paint scheme. Perhaps we could make your arrival to get the bike a mini forum event, brats on a grille, and an hour or two of locals in the area wishing safe travels home?

I'm also happy to hear there is a new shock for bikes of that vintage in the works. I'll need one too, Randy.

Best wishes for a safe holiday for all, and great new bike karma for Pat! I am envious of that machine.

If Pat gets closer to locking down when he's going to come get it.  That would be great. My place is kinda set up for a get together. Lots of room. 2400 sqft shop and  storage  with a full bathroom downstairs and 1000 sqft living  above 14×24 elevated deck (16' up) An acre of land to camp on.

Dan,
I apologize for putting you on the spot. That was not my intention. But, it does seem like it might be one of those moments in time where a group of people can make a good time out of one of life's little events.
If we can stay up on the logistics, and catch some decent weather, it could be a real nice time.

Fingers crossed.

Not putting me on the spot at all. I'm all for it. Like I said my place is kinda set up for that. I think it's a great idea. I would love to show off all my work. Like my motorcycles. My  house is a kind of obsessive creation.

I'd be down for a ride to Wisconsin, baring any bad weather or work schedule.
