I got some new blue dot calipers and a MC. Problem is I do not know what the MC came from. I asked RPM and was told there are many MC that look the same but different inside.
does anyone have any ideas on how to ID this so I can get a rebuild kit???

thanks for looking..

I'm guessing FJR 1300. The masters have different bore sizes stamped on the body below the sight glass, bit hard to see but looks like 16mm on yours.

The lever looks identical to the one I have on my FJ - I'll have look at the master cylinder first thing in the morning and compare it - it could also be from either a FZ1, or a YZF 600R Thundercat.

thank you for all of the replies. It does look like a 16 I've taken a better photo I've also found some other numbers below the master cylinder maybe this can help.

I'm hopefully headed to the hangar soon, I'll see if I can read the numbers on my FZ1 master cylinder.

I can't get to read/photograph the numbers on the bottom of the master cylinder on our FZ1, but it looks identical to Bryan's. The one on my FJ also looks identical.

Strangely, my FJ's master cylinder, which was supposed to be from a Fazer 1000/FZ1, does look externally identical, in every way, except that it has a 16 marked on it where the 14 is on the one on the actual FZ1 bike, sat next to it in the garage

Our FZS 600 has the same 14 cast mark on it and also looks externally identical to both of the others (the 600 came standard with blue dots too).

Thanks for checking. I also posted on the FJR form. Maybe it is from an FJR.

I may have to just use it and hope it does not leak and look for one that has been IDed and replace it at some point.

Early model FJR's had a 14mm master and came with blue spots, as the model progressed the bore size went up to 15mm then 16mm. No idea what the latest model has master or caliper wise, but I'm guessing their totally different.. My master came off a 2008 FJR 1300 abs and has a bore size of 16mm and came complete with silver spot calipers. I sold the silver spots as I already had blue spots fitted and with the new master fitted the feel of the brakes was way better, even though the bore size is about the same as the standard 5/8 inch.

A lot of Yamahas probably used that same master just with different size bores, even if not sure what model it came from maybe specifying the bore size might help in getting the right rebuild kit.

Good information. I will try and look up the parts breakdown on the different years FJR and see what one (s) are  16 mm.
Thanks.

I have looked through the services manuals for FJR and they do not have a 16mm MC. only 15. I have to assume that 16 on the one I have is 16mm but must not be FJR, I looked at a few years of R1 they also are not 16mm.
Strange.

so this must be an ABS one, but I do not find any specification on ABS.
