Well, between myself and 2big (Jan), we had our inaugural UK Shed day today, in Lickey Hills (Jan's garage).

It was great to meet a fellow member from FJ Owners.com for the first time. It quickly became obvious we shared the same thoughts about FJ's and spent a good few hours exchanging ideas, experiences and drinking tea. Seeing someone with the same passion for getting his FJ just the way he wants it was a nice little uplift for me, after Friday's little mishap. Fortunately, the damage from Friday is almost imperceptible now, unless you're really looking for it, so I'm much happier.

It also seems as though the low rpm fluffiness is now much less than it was on Friday after I've added about 200 miles onto the bike (about 50 yesterday and 150 today), so I think there may been a piece of detritus dislodged somehow that isn't causing problems at the moment. I'm still going to run something like Seafoam through the system to see if it gets any better, before I dig into the carbs again - I may just be being a bit paranoid

What was very apparent when the 2 FJ's were side by side, was the difference in fairing height and screen angle/height - with the 3XW being quite a bit larger than I actually thought it would be.....hence why the 3CV just seems to "feel" sportier from the saddle (although the only 3XW I've riddent had the big ribbed "touring" screen on it).

It was also nice to meet someone at the start of their FJ moditis journey, as I'm pretty much where I want mine to be, all bar a few little details (over the last week I've repainted my front fender to better match the original silver colour and I've painted the blue dot bobbins gold, to align more with the original Yamaha colour scheme) and hopefully I'll be re-living some of the joys of success through Jan's mods over the coming months.

All in all a great day, with perfect riding weather and some nice roads on the way home. Here's a couple of photo's (with Jan sitting on my bike).

Great to meet you Dean and thanks for the inspiration - you've helped me out with answers to so many questions (- there's no stupid questions right?!) I'm firmly on track with the direction and design brief to take with the bike going forwards.

What a brilliant FJ you have there Dean - a great year, neater looking than my 3XW, well fettled and discretely painted where needed to keep it in top working condition like you said as if Yamaha had made it but subtly improved. Impressed you've managed a couple of thousand of its 40k miles at the sharp end lapping the Nurburgring.

I seem to spend 1/3 of my 'FJ time' online researching, 1/3 sat there looking at it thinking about it, the reminder actually working on it. The timing of your visit was perfect motivation I need. Time to push on with the job and get it sorted can't wait to go for a ride Look forward to catching up soon
Many thanks
