Out in the sun

Had a lovely ride out in the sunshine today, up to Rutland Reservoir. Just shy of 100 miles round trip, but still on the Fazer 1000. Got the FJ booked in for its MOT test and it should be taxed from 1st July, so I should be enjoying it properly in the next couple of weeks.

I was joined today by my pal Jim on his Can Am Spyder....his double-width front wheels/tyres make it a handful on tram-lined/potholed back lanes, so I had to stop and wait a few times

Ha Ha - I wish I was that good - if I was, I would have taken out the grey hair first

It's an extremely picturesque part of the country Ted, lots of stone-built thatch roofed cottages and with all the rain and sunshine we've had recently, it's very lush. The only thing we're missing here in the Midlands are hills/mountains and pine forests  

There's a lot more boats than that on the reservoir as a whole Travis, the total number is literally in the hundreds - it's one of the largest man made lakes in Europe. I don't know exactly how big it is, but the cycle path around the shoreline is 25 miles long (Liz and I occasionally cycle it, it's a very easy ride, but very picturesque). It's a verypopular recreation area with a lot of managed wetland and very diverse wildlife. It's also filled by pumping from watercourses, rather than being a dammed river, so it's water level is very stable.

That Spyder is also the LOUDESt mobility scooter as well. It's got a tiny aftermarket "silencer" for that Rotax V-Twin and it sets off the neighbours car alarms when Jim drives by, which means he can't use it for commuting to work in the early hours  , but when following him, the "auto-blipper" on downshifts sounds awesome. When he's riding behind me, I can't even hear any of the engines running on our bikes.....he's on the lookout for a proper exhaust now !!! To be honest, if couldn't ride two-wheels, I'd rather have one of those than ride with a sidecar (as much fun as a sidecar unit can be!).
