Finned Windscreen

I have a 9 day Moto-Camping trip scheduled in 2 weeks. Polished up the Non-US spec finned windscreen. I use this as my summertime touring windscreen.

For your consideration:

The windscreen shows cracking around the two bolts located between the Y in "Yamaha" and the rear view mirror.

I had a screen like that but got rid of it as it caused too much buffeting around my helmet. Replaced it with a stock non-finned version.

The cracks at the screw holes were there when I got this windscreen. Like all of the FJ bodywork, these can not be purchased new.

A high speed run up to 120mph was done during a ride with a few other FJ's a couple of months before Christmas.

You're right Krusty, they are noisy to the point of being un-rideable at highway speeds without ear plugs but the trade off is, below the buffeting zone they offer above average protection from rain and wind (and cold). I've tried a number of screens and for my purposes, that one was the best compromise for my sort of riding. Even in torrential rain, my neck and front stay dry.

I've used the standard 3CV "touring" screen quite a lot over the years when touring with Liz and the boys. It gives a noticeably smoother and quieter ride at speeds under about 80mph, but always seems to make the bike "feel" so much bigger and top-heavy, even though I know it isn't. So, I prefer to ride with the low/sports screen if I'm not expecting to be riding a long way in rain (not that I ever expect to have completely rain free ride here in the UK  ).
