Here is the official 2020 WCR thread. This is where the remaining information will be completed for the 2020 WCR. There was a recent vote on the location and Buck's Lake Lodge in northern California was the winner.

Travis (T Legg) will be the point of contact of the event.

Here is some of the information posted by Travis in other threads regarding Buck's Lake and I'm sure much will be coming soon.

I spoke with Rebecca at Bucks Lake Lodge today and told her our plans. She is happy to have us and has at this point set aside the entire facility for us untill we decide who wants to go and what rooms or cabins they want to rent. The prices I quoted earlier are still current. She says so far this year the snow has been relatively light and expects a nice spring this year.   My son Ian and I plan on attending. We need to formalize the decision and make a list of attendees. After we have a firm decision and a list I can coordinate with her.

Bucks lake lodge has a seventeen room motel with large rooms that have either one or two beds. The one bed rooms are $ 107.91 including the 9% room tax . The rooms with two beds are $ 118.81 with room tax. They also have three sizes of cabins all of which have bathrooms and kitchens. The small cabins have either a double bed or two twin beds in one bedroom. their rates with room tax are $ 158.05 per night if rented two days or less or $ 129.81 per night if rented for three days or more. The four person cabins have two bedrooms with a double bed in each room. The cost with tax is $179.85 per night for two days or less or $ 151.51 if rented three days or more. The eight person cabin has three bedrooms with double beds and two twin beds. The rate for this cabin with tax is $212.55 per night for two days or less or $ 184.31 per night for three or more nights. There are tent and RV camping sites nearby also. There are several restaurants at the lodge and nearby. They have a web site at buckslakecabinrentals.com

So as mentioned above, this is also the starting list of the attendees from the 2020 WCR. Please add your name to the list as we go forward so Travis has the most accurate information.

I just spoke to a friend who lives near Bucks Lake and currently there is no snow on the ground. Winter could return but at this point it looks like conditions should be nice. All the people who have confirmed so far would fit in the large cabin.I hope people state their intentions soon so we don't tie up their facility waiting. also I need to know everyone's choice of room or cabin. I know Rick wants a cabin with the double bed and Ian and I want a cabin with two twin beds. I don't want to discourage late deciders, most likely there will be vacancies up to the last minute but I need to get back to them soon with a list.

Looking at the map, it appears the Timberline Inn is located a distance away from the cabins....
Is this the case?

Where is the fire pit located?

Hi Pat. There is a walking path through the forest between the two .The path may be a little long for city folk but I think I have to walk farther to take my garbage out to the road. Fires are allowed at the cabins and the Timberline Inn. I booked a cabin from Rebecca today but I found out after that they have switched the twin bed cabins to one double each. There are five cabins with double beds now,one cabin with two bedrooms with a double bed each and one cabin with three bedrooms each with a double bed plus a twin bed floating around some where. And the timber line has rooms with one double and rooms with two beds. We should start calling individually and reserve our rooms or cabins. Rebecca did warn me that if somehow the winter returned and dropped copious amounts of snow it could affect their preparations of the cabins. She thought this would be very unlikely this year but if it does happen we could all be accommodated at the Timberline inn. Let's all keep our fingers crossed for a warm dry month of May.Rebecca can be reached to book your rooms at 1-530-283-2262

I  hope I don't jinx it but the weather has been very warm lately its been in the fifty's and sixty's the last couple weeks and will be as far as the forecast shows. I have been over all the passes to Lake Tahoe many times this year. where at this time last year ten to twelve feet of snow stood, this year there might be three feet. I plan to ride out to Bucks Lake next weekend and I will post some pictures.
