I recently bought a HD video camera. A little palm sized "sports cam" for the amazing price of £40 ($60) from Aldi - a discount store here in the UK. I attached it to an old helmet and the results are pretty good. Here's a short vid. I think pressing the "HD is off" button will allow you to see it in HD on Vimeo

I included (at 0:40) me nearly headbutting an oncoming camper van!

Och aye laddie! Stuart you have access to some beautiful scenery - not unlike the South Island of NZ. Mrs Ned and I wanted to head up that way last June when we were in the UK but time ran out. It's always tempting to gaze in awe until some foreigner in a campervan comes around the corner on the wrong side of the road. We have these nasty little cheap rentals based on people movers like Toyota Estimas that are referred to as Road lice and are usually driven by young left handed drivers from Europe. They free camp along the roadside which strictly speaking isn't legal and dump their rubbish, empty their porta-potties if they have one or just crap on the grass verge just like they do in most of Europe .... Buggers!

Ned,

I'm planning to go to a bike club camp in the NW Highlands this weekend. A bit risky this early in the year - the forecast is dry but cool. I'll post some pictures if I make it.

I hope the weather holds out well, I guess summer is still a long way off for you. It hasn't ended here yet - 20+ degrees and still very little rain - quite unusual for Auckland. Mrs Ned an I have promised ourselves a trip around the highlands next time we make it to the UK. It won't be for a few years though.

Thanks for that video. I visited Scotland several times, even renting a car and doing my own driving, scouring the highlands but we bypassed Glencoe. That video almost makes up for missing it.
I checked the Aldi website but it looks like all household/health items, no electronics. Can you share the camera model please so I know the specs to look for elsewhere?

If someone wants to see any images I refer to in posts, first check my gallery here. If no bueno, send me a PM. More than glad to share.
