I come from an aviation background, and I have two words to end the Loctite discussion: safety wire.  I will order bolts with heads drilled for safety wire, and I have become fairly adept at drilling safety-wire holes in bolt heads, myself.  Safety-wire pliers make it easy to add safety wire to secure the job, and these pliers can cost maybe US$30 or less.

Is there more to that link?  It seems to stop before giving the REALLY useful information that the second set of XXXXXX tells you the bolt sixe and length.  Which is typically what most care about.
