Just picked up a clean 85 fj11 for 2500.00 43xxx miles everything is there mostly, gona have some questions, currently waiting for my racetech from springs from ebay, got the 15wt oil in it, brake pads in the front on one side was soaked with some kind of grease, rode it from Bakersfield with weak azz brakes, cleaning it up and giving her a good inspection, getting rid of the pods and going with the airbox

i think it has ebc rotors, for sure braided steed front brake lines and clutch line, dyna 2000 ignition ( which concerns me highly)

just bought a f4i rear shock, will need help with that one

Welcome aboard! I can hardly keep up with all the new guys. I'm sure some of the other SoCal guys will chime in soon. You certainly found the place for everything you need for the FJ. If you're free the first weekend in June, the West Coast Rally is happening up in Hayfork, CA. Should be a great weekend of rides.

Welcome to FJownership. There are a few of us in and around the Los Angeles area. Some active, others lurk quietly and then pop up at rallies. The weather is getting better for some rides so get the safety stuff sorted. Check under the tank. See if the fuel petcock has been wired to keep the elbow in. If not then get that done ASAP. plenty of past posts if you need more info.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

Check all your fuel lines and filter. Make sure the lines are sized for the nipples they attach to.

Welcome from Australia

Nice 85 you picked up.
Good move with the Racetech springs.
If the carbs are jetted appropriately stick with the Pod filters
EBC HH pads are the go for the barkes.
Nothing wrong with the Dyna 2000 ( a few have swapped to it now)
Braided lines are a recommended enhancement.

Good luck and happy riding

never liked pod, the plugs look a tad lean, no flat spots, but i don't like the cheap intake noise, and i want the low end back whatever that means

i thought the only filter is is the pickup in the petcock, i don't see no filters going to the carbs after the  fuel line from the tank

and yes looks all original and nothing mickey moused, last bike was a clean xs1100 79 had to sell it in 2010 when i went broke for the 3rd time in my life, so it's been a long while since i owned and rode.

Sorry, mine is a '93, so I have the pump and filter. I'm a little anal about the fuel lines, etc., as you can see by my user pic.

Yep, had to stand there and watch it burn to the ground. There's a thread somewhere here with video. It's too traumatizing to watch. Make sure the fuel stays inside all the plumbing.

Welcome mtc.....You are correct, No fuel filter should be used on the vacuum petcock 84/87 gravity flow FJ's
Make sure your fuel line route is correct. It is counter intuitive.
