I have a problem ( for me this is bad ) with NOT sure  spark or carbs  !!  I bought it new 1991  never had a problem until  ,  about 5 years ago the hydraulic clutch started to leak . then do to personal health I had to let the bike sit  (was keep inside) NOW I replaced ALL hydraulics ,, brakes , clutch and rebuilt the   CARBS  YA Ya ya .
1. ?? NOW it will not run ,,,, IT  will spit and sputter with the CHOKE on  ,,,, ALSO the TACO-MITER does not work .
2. ?? I pulled all plugs and checked compression and got 153 to 158 on all ,, BUT when I checked the spark ( all plugs out )  the spark seemed to jump = sometimes blue then red , sometimes strong then not at all or could not see the spark .  one plug might be blue another red then 3 blue and one could not see spark !! would never seem to get good blue spark on all 4 at the same time ???

ANY help please

I read this on one file ""Not sure what year your bike is, but I think on the '91-up models, the fuel pump relay is near the battery on the fuel pump side. It might not be receiving a     tach       signal to keep it operating while the bike is running.""

did they mean TECH signal     or    Tachometer signal   ,, because MY  tachometer now does NOT seem to work when it will start .

If the bike has been sitting for 5 years and you did not drain the carbs before you stored it, then, you will need to properly clean your carbs.

Check all the electrical connections at your coils, especially the grounds. Take them apart, sand and clean.
The tach signal comes from your #2/#3 coil (right coil) via a grey wire.

The tachometer signal is needed or the 1991 ignition box will shut off the fuel pump after ~5-6 seconds.

Spitting and sputtering with the choke on is indicative of a clogged choke circuit.

Usually the tiny orifice in the float bowl that supplies fuel to the choke circuit is plugged with old dried fuel residue.

Do it right - get the o-ring & screw kit from Randy and some carb gaskets.

Also - but a can of Mercury Quick Silver Power Tune - It will blow any other cleaners away (including Sea Foam) when cleaning out the carbs and it's safe on rubber and plastic!
