Coffee?!

Hello all!
So I finally picked up my 89 FJ1200 on Wednesday, and I love it!   I rode it to work Friday and today, however I'm having trouble accepting the fact that I can't get my usual Dunkin Donuts coffee in the morning!  Has anyone figured out a way to either attach something to the bike, or get a coffee mug suitable to be in a backpack without spilling?  So far, I have to ride in, and then walk to the gas station a block away and have their crappy coffee instead! Haha

Oh and also, I've noticed sometimes it's a hard shift into first gear the first time of the day (Its died a couple times doing it, but it's got plenty of clutch fluid) Is this normal?

Back in the dark times before cell phones, PC's and Starbucks we carried out brew in a magical device called a thermos. No one could figure out how it worked but you could fill it with hot stuff and when you got to work it was still hot. What made it magical was that if you filled it with cold stuff, it stayed cold! What more could you ask for?

However a word to the wise... It won't do its magic with both hot and cold items at the same time.

Yes you will find that odd object at wally world, I have it in black. Watch out it will keep liquids

Get an all metal one. If you don't, when you get to work and your hot coffee sounds like it has ice in it, I wouldn't drink it.

I think you meant "with the clutch pulled in..."

It is normal, the spring squeezes the oil out and makes the plates stick together.....

What blend of oil are you running? Thicker will also cause a harder clunk when not fully warmed up. Not fully warming up will also encourage a clunk first thing the morning. Make sure she is warm and give her a short walk to open up (the plates) and all will be well for your morning ride.

Last summer, while out for a nice Sunday morning ride, I stopped at a Tim Horton's (the default gathering place for riders in any small Ontario town).  A Harley rider shows up, comes in, gets his coffee, and goes back to his bike.   It was a nice day, so I figured he wanted to drink his coffee outside.  Instead, he takes a well folded zip lock bag from his pocket, puts the coffee cup in the bag, seals it, and then... he holds the zip lock bag with his teeth, coffee cup hanging under this month, as he rides away    Looked like a regular routine for him.

and if you don't want to make your own and save the bucks, many places have a set price for filling a Thermos.

The waitress at a bakery I used to frequent would fill them for the customers.

Hmm I should ask them what oil they put in it, The mechanic mentioned 20w/50 but I'm not sure if that's whats in it now.  I'll definitely try the short walk first, but I always let her warm up for 10-15 mins before the first ride of the day
