Has anyone found a decent enlarged pad for an FJ sidestand?

A pad to go under it when parking on soft material? Or one to attach it adding length of side stand due to other modifications? I made one after seeing another do the same. Now my FJ has a KISS boot.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

I just folded some 2 inch steel over itself and welded it on, then sprayed it with Gal paint.  works a treat.

I just carry a couple of Yogurt tub Lids with me, pretty tough plastic, no weight, rusting and if you leave them accidentally and if you're really worried use 2 or 3

No Worries there is usually more at home.

As Monkey Mark said, depends whether you are referring to an extender or an expander.

I have extended my stand like this...

(...but unlike Mark, I make no claim to rock group affiliation)

I also carry a side stand puck on a bit of fishing line that can be looped over the LH grip  (so I can retrieve it once remounted on the bike).... Lifting the weight of the bike off the puck before mounting when alone somewhere remote is asking for trouble, unless you find lifting up the FJ by yourself easy.

....but in hundreds of thousands of Km's, many off road, I've never used it. There is always a stone or twig that I can move under the stand that does the job. It's the first thing I look for before turning the bike off if parking on dodgy ground.

If you are looking to permanently enlarge the foot print of the stand, there are pages of them on ebay, all work on pretty much the same principle and are mostly universal and will do the job (and they're cheap)

IMO

For me, a Czechoslovakian hockey puck on a length of paracord, attached to ring on my tankbag. Just the right thickness without a stand extension, and just the right size for a kickstand pad.

I like my FJ's to be raised up somewhat to help with not scraping the footpegs.  This makes the standard side stand too short or, at least, the bike is at an unhealthy lean when on the stand.  I flattened the base of the stand, welded on 1/4" plate with tapped holes and mounted a piece of hocky puck to the plate.  Makes for a proper side stand with good gripping and I don't extra things to fool around with when getting ready to leave.

It may have been Noel's post (Ribbert) that inspired me. If you look closely you can see where I laminated (glued) 3 pieces of 3/16 ABS into a thicker puck. I first traced the shape of the foot on one piece and cut it out. Then traced the first to a second but larger and then again for the third. Glue them over night in a clamp. Clamp to the side stand foot and match drill for the fasteners. Then tap for M5 or 1/4-20, not sure. Once bolted on I shaped the plastic and hid the remaining sins with leftover gold paint. I guess if i had an artist I could have had the boot painted to look like the KISS boot it resembles.

Put some fur on it and it'll look like a hoof...

As ribbert mentioned, there is always something you can put under side stand by the road.
Besides KISS boot, there is another extending option - YZF R6 stand

Bolt on job, no modification needed (but I do not have side stand switch) and lenght is just perfect.  :good2:

I haven't had many issues recently, but on some of my other bikes I used to keep a 4" grinding disc either in the tankbag / under the seat to pull out if there was some soft ground about.

As noted, you could use pretty much anything, but I had a stack of these things around the garage so it became the obvious choice.

bezmozek, how much longer is that YZF side stand? No need to be real exact, guesstimate length in inches?

Cheers, Gareth

If you want, I can measure/make picture, still have OEM stand at home.
Difference is approx 1"

Yeah, I was just trying to keep it from sinking.  Nice to see everyone's ideas.   Yogurt lids, flattened beer cans, hockey pucks!  See, ya never think of hockey pucks in  South Carolina.  But the local team is called the Swamp Rabbits and their stick is a carrot.  I always thought there was a carrot AND a stick, maybe that's why they lose all the time.
