Recovered Corbin

I found a Corbin Gunfighter for a smoking hot deal. The catch was.... It was in colors too match the 1984 FJ1100.

I also wanted the rounded passenger section flattened like the later model Corbins. I used Pat Conlon's Corbin as a model of what I wanted.

A local Upholstery shop did the work for me.

Very nice. I have a Lady&Gunfighter I need to make an appoint for.

What material was used? Is the seat area vinyl? I'm really interested in seeing some of Corbin's other materials when I go down to Hollister. They have stingray hide that is apparently pretty tough stuff.

Beautiful seat Fred! Your local shop made it look better than the original.

Rick,

I had them use Marine grade vinyl. I personally advise against leather. It makes the seating area way too hard.

Yeah, I definitely don't want leather. I'm gonna go in person and fiddle with all the samples before I choose. I really like the Gunfighter, but I gotta keep a Lady seat back there for those occasional two-ups.

I'm intrigued by the stingray hide. Sounds like it would make the saddle pretty hard, but I wanna look at it for sure.

What I noticed with my Gunfighter (solo) is that the seat length (front to back) is longer than the Lady & Gunfighter version.

Good and Bad on the solo seat.....

Good is that on long trips I can slide back, but that's also the bad.
On the twisties my bike handles better with my weight up close to the tank (more weight on the front tire).
It's amazing what sliding my 200 lbs a couple of inches forward will do to the handling

The Lady & Gunfighter seat has a shorter seat length so it keeps me up close to the tank.

I had a local shop recover mine. And I too used marine grade material same pattern as Fred's. I find it too grippy. Hard to slide my fat arse around quickly and smoothly
In the tight twisties. I've even used armorall to try and make it more slippery. Works for a little while but wears off too fast.   :unknown:
