Hi!
I'm new here and english is not my native language but i'll try to make my point.
So I got -84 fj that I bought few months ago and it was imported from germany were it has been sitting, for god knows how long ( my guess is roughly 10 years).
So I cleaned the carbs and got the bike running, I ran it warm a couple of times (in garage because we have about 8 inches of snow here)  and all worked fine.
So the problem occured when i tried to run it about 20 meters to test the clutch etc.
At first I lost all electricity except gauge lights(?) and brake light, I cleaned all contacts and now I have lights and all other things working.
Then the interesting part, the engine stop switch started working in the opposite way, so in off position the bike would crank and so on.
I tried bypassing the switch (by putting the two wires together as I understand that the switch closes the circuit in on position).
Bike cranks when the wires are not together but I dont have any spark.
I suspect that the ignitor box may be damaged??

Welcome Ville.
I think I would strart by checking all the electrical connections staring with the ground wire from the battery. Check where the ground connects to the frame and motor. Clean the connection points with sand paper or Skotchbrite and the coat with dielectric grease before reattaching.

Welcome to the forum.  Great to hear of another 84 being resurrected.  How was the bike stored all those years?  Was it exposed to excessive amounts of humidity or the weather?  I would start with disassembling the kill switch and cleaning all the electrical connections.  From everything I've read over the years the ignitor box rarely goes bad - but is very expensive to replace.  Unfortunately, I did not run into that type of problem when getting my 84 back on the road so I'm not able to help.  Post some pictures of your bike when you have a chance. Good luck!

Its alive!! :yahoo:
The problem was the original relay unit, I added one relay and bypassed some wires and it has been running for almost 1000km.
Just replaced front fork seals, they started to leak when I drove into a big pothole and now its ready to go.
Thanks to everybody for advice.
