R.I.P. Tim Mintz 12/6/2017

Hello everyone,

It is with a sad heart I learned today, Tim Mintz a long time FJ Owner lost his battle with cancer and has passed away.

While I only saw him at a couple of West Coast Rallies, he is the one that came up with nickname of Mr. Bean for me.  I remember trying to keep up with him and his wife Trica on his '86 and not going a very good job at it.  The man could ride the hell out of his bike, even when two up.

If anyone wishes to help with final expenses, you can make a donation here:

I think back to my first FJ rally (in Petaluma), where I rode down with Brian Hunt and Steve (the cop from Dundee, Oregon).  I had been chatting with everyone on the old Yahoo group for over a year and remember the look of surprise on a lot of peoples faces when I pulled my helmet off.  They were not quite expecting a geeky looking guy to emerge from under the helmet.  Guess my on-line persona didn't quite match up with expectations.  *grin*

Tim was standing next to Brian Hunt and made a comment to Brian: "He kinda looks like Mr. Bean".  Brian's response was "Yeah, your right".  And the rest is history from there.

Wished Tim had made it to more rallies.  I don't think he was ever able repair the broken frame of his '86 and I believe his wife brought so much joy into his life that riding somewhat fell to the wayside.

Thank you Tim for the great memories.  They still put a smile on my face to this day.

Thanks Garth, yes, I remember that.... Shame we lost all those FJ Rally pictures. Tim was in them.

We lost another good one.

It is sad new to hear of Tim's passing after his long fight with cancer. I know Tim fought for more than two years to survive. Tim did a lot of things out the "norm" to hopefully beat the cancer.

There was a Go Fund Me account set up for Tim the explains some of the trails he tried: https://www.gofundme.com/takeitdowntim

The proceeds from the 2015 Renegade Rally raffle were donated to Tim's cancer fight.

I see on the memorial page posted by Garth, there is also a donation button. It looks like Tim's wife, Tricia could use some help with Tim's final expenses.

Please keep them in mind during this difficult time, which is also elevated by the holiday season.

God Speed Tim.
