I am hoping someone can tell me how long the inner sleeve is ....the exact length.... It is the inner sleeve or "Bush" running down the thrust bearing tube on the 84 85 swingarm. I'll take the first correct answer out for lunch and tequila next time I am in town  :drinks:

There's a lot of bushes there. Can you give us a number from the schematics?

Balky,  it's #2 on the swing arm diagram, part # 36Y-22184

Ah, OK. Unfortunately I don't have the measures of that. I asked because I have measures of some other bushing from the linkage.

Hey Kev, I checked my parts boxes, unfortunately I don't have one available to measure.

The PartsZilla info. shows that the inner sleeve, or "bush" on the FJ swingers is the same part # (36Y-22184-00-00)  for all years "84 to '93
https://www.partzilla.com/product/yamaha/36Y-22184-00-00?ref=c310e98809678d17be4461c8a610ee00fdeb6bde

Therefore, with all years being the same...I recall Marc Rittner did a measurement on the FJ inner sleeve for his write up on the T-Ace swingarm mod hosted on Barry Edwards site: http://www.fjmods.co.uk/MarcRittner.htm

Marc's measurement on the FJ swing arm pivot inner sleeve, or "bush" is 9.697"

Cheers laddie

Hey guys....thank you so much for your diligence.....I love this site and the help  ...... I actually managed to talk to Randy(RPM) and he had one in the shop he was able to measure for me right on the spot.....perfect timing  :i_am_so_happy:  It is 9 and 11 16th's" which is 246 mm exactly 8mm less then the T-ace "Bush"(254mm) which is precisely what I read on Mark Rittners write up. I wanted to confirm since Mark was swapping it with a 90 FJ. Which is why the material removed for the shock was offset rather than centered......just wanted to be 100% sure. Seems I have had to be with Snowy.....she has some real attitude.. that girl  :good2:... So.....It's lunch for both Randy and Pat......Tequila also for Ranbo and a Nadda Coladda for Pat (me always on the back).  :empathy2:

Hey Kev, glad you got the info. verified.

FYI, just for clarification: The 1990 FJ's did not have the offset shock...that started in '91-'93.
The reason Yamaha did the shock offset was for clearance for the ABS pumps introduced on the Gen 4 FJ's.
Marc's project bike was a '93 with the offset shock, however Yamaha accomplished the offset with a relocation of the shock's upper frame mount, and the offset lower relay arm.

The shock offset has nothing to do with the swing arm pivot measurements.

I used those same swing arm pivot measurements for the TAce swinger in my '84 (w/centered shock) and it fit like a glove.
However, the "flycut" on the TAce swinger (for shock spring clearance) was centered on my '84 vs offset as shown on the Barry Edwards write up.

Cheers
