FJ1100 back again

About 6 months ago I sold my FJ1100 and as they drove away with the bike on a trailer I was regretting selling it straight away  BUT GOOD NEWS last week it was back on ebay, nothing much done to it, bit of the fairing had been welded and filed and rubbed down ready for paint. Included in the sale was a good used front end, yokes, forks, wheel, h/bars and good disc's bonus part the chrome on the forks not pitted.

Now we come to the dilemma, when I first had the bike it was going to be left exactly as it was because it was a totally original excellent condition (for year 1985)  survivor bike, never painted not changed in anyway apart from the anti-dive being disconnected but still in place, so ...... do I just paint the fairing from the top, dark blue, red strip with silky white lower and do nothing more or do I use some others bits I already have........ Yes I have another R1 big bang rear end complete with the five spoke wheel, front end would be another usd job, all the plastics kept totally original but with a more up to date colour scheme like the wet pale brown with dark violet cocktail.

Got loads of time to think about it as I still need to do a bit more to the FJ1200, that bike I painted red and gold, I like the colours and how the gold flake gets picked out in the sun however with all the bodywork mods I have done I think it needs standard FJ1200 paint like the marble silver with a dark contrasting second colour.

So the big question ...... Should I modify the old FJ1100 from 1985 as it will not be a true survivor bike after paint, and what to do with the no where near standard red FJ1200 ??????????????

Let me know your thoughts     :good2:    Russ

I'd say do as little as possible to get the 1100 on the road and get your "kookaloo" on while you continue the 1200 project.   Then once the 1200 is on the road, you can figure out what you truly want to do with the 1100.

Good luck no matter what you choose!

Ditto from here too.  Having a contrasting pair of a hyper modded FJ and a stock one is the best of both worlds IMHO.

Lucky one Russ.  :good2:

That's what I was thinking, just a pity I have to re spray the front of the faring as it was all original paint when I sold it but such is life.
Having the 1100 back also seems to help with my state of mind (depression) having a few projects on the go but no time constraints is very helpful,
if one project is getting me down I just turn to another. Big problem is my shed / workshop is getting full.
