Does anyone offer clear front lenses for the signals that will fit a 89-90 FJ?

aviationfred

I have had a go to source for a few years and have ordered a few sets. I recently inquired about a set of clear and smoked lenses for the '88-'90 3CV. Sadly I was informed that there were none to be had and no more in the future.

Hopefully someone else around the world finds a source.

Thanks Fred! I just thought that on the white paint of my 90 that clear lenses would look a lot cleaner than the Amber ones. Oh Well.

You are correct, they do look so much better than the amber.

I hope we can find a source for clear lenses for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th generation FJ's

Mongo,

Lacking a real source, I would consider using rigid clear plastic sheet, well-embossed on one side with some decent light-scattering pattern (similar to stock lenses).  There are many types, styles, and thicknesses of patterned rigid plastic sheets made.  Try the craft stores, or maybe the hardware outlets.  Cut a piece slightly too large and drill to fit the screws, then install the lens using the screws and mark the lens around the housing with a dye pen (Magic Marker, et c.).  Remove the screws and lens, and cut the plastic to the marks, or cut the plastic to just fit inside the fixture, whatever works for you.  Seal the edges with clear RTV to keep the rain out.  A (borrowed) belt sander on the bench will make short work of trimming the plastic lens to fit.
Cheers,
Red

P.S. Life is too short, and health is too valuable, to ride on cheap parade-duty tires.

The clear and smoke lenses are currently available for the 4th Gen 1200's. I just ordered a smoke colored set and they came in while I was at the Central Rally.

These lenses are for the 1991 model year and later only. They will not fit the 3rd Gen 1988-1990 models.
