Brand new mirrors for CanD........and now that she's able to do the Kessel run in less than 10 parsecks .......her ears are flopping immediately once I hit hyperspace....... I suppose I don't need to see what's behind me at that speed.......but it can be a pain once I come out of hyperspace and into an asteroid field ...you never know who's trying to keep up.....  :mocking: ...... any ideas on how to stiffen up the rotating ball the mirrors pivot on??  :mail1:

That part of nearly all mirrors are not a service point. Typically there is a spring pulling the ball joint together and that friction holds the mirrors in place. If the spring weakens or the joint wears, or both, you really have no way fix it. You could try to bond it so it cannot move, adjust. That kind of defeats an important function. I had some Emgo mirrors that did that. On my second set and they are still good.

CanDman,

Maybe so . . .  Can you show us these ball pivots?

Thx Monkey man....always a pleasure to hear from you.....I thought of fixing the position....but I will have out of town visitors and if I draw Snowy..... whoever climbs on CanD may need to adjust....... I was thinking about syringing some silicone or adhesive rubber into the housing unit......or maybe some shims would work  :mail1: ???? Hmmmmm .....that maybe the trick...

Red..... I don't think that is possible without destroying the housing unit the mirror sits in......

I think if you can fit some shim material in, it may hold the mirror in place. But moving the mirror might push the shim out. The mirrors are most likely molded in Nylon. The last time I searched, very little will bond well with nylon.
