The FJ prep is not going well (both bike and non bike problems) and is not looking like a starter for the weekend. I have been giving thought to how else I might get to Bermagui....

....however I don't think this is the answer.

That's a bloody shame Noel. You will be missed. Is there any chance you can still make it?

I have a another bike that is waiting for a part (the right part hopefully this time) that would make the trip. It's no FJ but it would get me there. I'll stir them up tomorrow.

The final straw on the FJ after a big effort to get it back together late tonight was noticing the LH muffler is cracked around the seam at the front from one too many contacts with the road. Those sort of cracks tend to travel quickly with load and  vibration. I think it would be unwise to ride it that far with the potential for losing a muffler en route.

I'm not done yet.

Do your best Noel. The weather's clearing up just for our weekend. I know it's not the same but if you wanted to drive up, there is an FJ or two that you can ride when you get here. You could even ride a TDM900 with off-road tyres on it, that should be a good incentive to get your bike going.
Hope you can make it. Regards, Pete.

A bit of gaffer tape will get you another 1000km out of it

Thanks Pete but I don't need any more encouragement, the memories, photos and ride from last year are some of the best. Thanks for the offer of a bike to ride up there but I am now sorted. The fuel pump came for the other bike so I hit the road tomorrow.

This is what finally dashed my hopes of bringing the FJ. (I don't have any of Jools high temp gaffer tape)

If I push on the muffler that opens right up. I suspect it is a legacy of the Flinders Ranges trip and the corrugations.

See ya Friday

Sad about the FJ mate but great news that you can still make it.

Nice front yard Pete

It's a shame I'm going to miss it due to late work commitments :negative: (it is the silly season, this job has been known about for at least 3 weeks but now they say we've been given the go ahead but it needs to be finished by Tuesday, and it's a 5 day job so I'll be working Saturday)

I do hate my job sometimes

I'll have to leave the shift detent kit til next Manshed.

To everyone have a safe ride

We are getting a few Sydney, Central coast and north coast riders on here (and facebook) maybe we should be looking at a Sydney / Northern shed day.

Just floating the idea.

A great weekend at Bermagui, only marred by an unfortunate accident to one of our own during the ride out on Saturday. Best wishes to Troyski for a speedy recovery, we are thinking of you mate and if you need any help you only have to ask.
Many thanks to Pete and Alf (and Gail of course!) for organising this event and providing the beds and tucker for us old buggers.
Thanks especially to Pete for persevering with my centre stand mods and the ignition advance mod. She's sweet as a nut now, even if not as powerful as your beast (lets wait for the dyno shoot out on that one  :blum2:)
Great to meet all the new and old faces again, the weather was perfect and the ride home uneventful.
Even Noel managed to make it on his krautbus LOL

I hope everything is okay with Troyskie following the incident. Was he able to go home or was a hospital ride required?

He is in our thoughts.

G'day Randy, Troy had a fairly serious accident and had to be taken to hospital. Later that evening, after various scans etc, he was air lifted to a major hospital with better care to offer for his injuries. He has a fractured pelvis and some fractures to his lower vertebrae. He will be laid up for some time.
I will keep you up to date on his progress.
   Regards, Pete.
