More than 10 years I have kept in my wardrobe this Factory ignition advancer, waiting for to be used in a FJ 1100 or in my "new" 1200 1TX

It is no more available from Factory, I think

pajo99

how much this advances ignition?

Probably be able to wheelie in second and third gear, after installing it. Good for another 15 horsepower@10,500 RPM.

A popular mod in the '80's I've had one on my '84 for years.
Vance and Hines and Factory Pro both made these advanced rotors.
First thing I noticed was a slight ping on long up hill grades (with stock jetting)
#40 pilots and Shimmed needles made that go away.

She seemed to start quicker, but that could have been from the coil relay mod.

I recall not feeling any noticeable difference when I installed my V&H rotor.

Was that on your 85 or your 93?

Is there dyno from 3º/5º changed timing?
I am not into top end performace, but is there some noticeable gain in mid rev?
´85 FJ 1100

Alf

The gain is mainly at the midrange. In fact, increase the compression

Thx Alf,
you do have oil temp gauge?
Is there a big difference in temperature with ignition advancer?

I cant say if with the advancer the bike run hotter because my 3CV bike have fitted a bigger rad, and another improvements

And my 1TX is going to exit from the refurbish with a bigger rad too, so I cant get an specific verdict

Travelling side to side with a friend with another 3CV with oil temp gauge fitted too but with std cooler and with no mods, both bikes always were at similar operating temperatures

5 deg advance will make no difference to running temps. Retarded ignition causes hot running.

IMO
