Clutch Travel

I recently installed a brand new clutch slave. Fresh fluid, fully bled. Pressure at the lever is consistent. Feels right. Shifts fine.

However, there's a lot of extra travel at the lever. The engagement point is within the first quarter to third of a pull on the lever. Is this range of engagement normal?

Other than a new slave and bleeding, did you do anything else? You might still have some air in the system.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

No, didn't do anything else. Same OEM hose (most likely the original).

Wouldn't that result in the opposite symptom: engagement only at a full pull of the lever (if ever)?

Clutch engagement is currently within a third of a pull of the lever. The last two thirds of the pull seem excessive. Makes me wish the lever was adjustable to take out some of the excess travel.

Yes, I was thinking you had the opposite problem.  Sounds like my clutch engagement. But I also have adjustable levers.

Yep, adjustable levers are where it's at.... (via FJR clutch m/c and FZ-1 brake m/c)

Didn't I see someone on the forum get a set (from FleaBay) of adjustable levers that fits the oem FJ's m/c's?

That would be the answer for Silas. Bring the lever in closer to the grip, reduce the free play.

My clutch and brake masters are Kawi Concours, looks very similar to OEM and 14MM. Great with the blue dots and doubled up clutch spring.

If it works fine, don't worry about it.

You should also check the lever pivot hole for wear and elongation along with the brass bushing (The bushing itself and also the hole where the master cylinder piston wears) If on a 1200 this could mimic the excessive throw you are describing in the lever assembly.
