Changing the fork fluid on my 86' FJ1200 and accidentally drained the fluid from the damper rod locating screw instead of the side drain screw. I assume this is ok since I am just changing fluid and did not touch the damper rod itself.

That said, the damper rod locating screw did not have any kind of o-ring or washer, just a bare screw. I can't find an o-ring on RPM's website. Can I just use the plastic drain screw washers on the damper rod locating screw?  These:

Did the screw have a small pin at the end? The pins tend to get sheared off by mechanics that don't know the proper way to reassemble the forks.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

Yes all 4 are the same plastic washer.

Yes the screw had a pin at the end (no threads) and was in great shape, not bent or anything, just no o-ring/washer.

Thanks Robert. Managed to cycle the forks with the bike on the center stand and dad leaning on the back so I could get a jack under the front wheel. Worked great.

Side note: found the header nuts were finger tight and were the original allen key ones despite the fact the bike has a Kerker exhaust. Looks like another order coming your way.
