Where did you get your GSXR rear wheel spacers?

Gonna do the GSXR rear wheel conversion on my '92 next month, was wondering for thise in AUS where did you source the 4mm spacers I keep reading you will need?

I was wondering this as well however the is an online place in qld that sell a lot of stains hardware. I'm wondering without talking my wheel off what is the axle diameter so I can get all bits sorted to do in one hit.

I had a few of these in my toolbox surprisingly. 4mm thick washers that were the right diameter for the axle. one of these each side and away you go. In my signature below I have a link to how I did my wheel swap.

I just went to a nut and bolt shop locally and asked for two washers 4mm thick by 20mm inner diameter. Cost peanuts and a perfect fit.

I special ordered a 38 tooth sproket for my converion (or was it 40....can't remember, will check that). It is not a standard size for the suzuki. they are availiable on ebay i think.

Yep. Running 17t front and 40t rear. Bike sits on just over 4000rom at 100kph.

Hey Ray (and others) with the 4mm washers on each side, have we verified (with straight edges) that the GSXR rim is centered with the front...or is there an offset?

Pat, I would expect a slight offset since the GSXR wheel is wider. This should leave a choice between an angled chain or a slight offset with the centerline. I wonder if this is countered by a wider front wheel?

Hey Rick, yes I was refering to asking if there is any center line offset between the rear GSXR rim (with 4mm washers on each side) and the center line of the front rim. Front wheel width has no bearing, meaning if it's a 3" wide front rim or 3.5" wide front rim, the center line of the front rim (thus the tire) should be the same.

It is more important to center line the front and rear tires first....then see what you need to do via offset sprocket (or sprockets) to get the chain in alignment.

Clamping a pair of 7' long straight tubes to the back tire, then measuring each side at the front rim or tire will tell you 2 things: 1) Using the index marks on the swinger, will they give you a straight rear tire?
and  2) Is there a center line offset between the two tires?

I asked this question several months ago (about the GSXR swap) someone was going to check.
The reason I asked was that someone reported a 3/4" right offset when they did the mod.

Duh... it was late when I asked about front wheel width.

It makes sense that there would be an offset with the wider rear wheel. Can the front sprocket be moved outward to address this?
I had the mod on my previous bike, but never really looked into the offset. I never perceived any handling or tire wear issues, but it's one of those details that'll drive me nuts if not resolved. I plan on doing the same mod to the new bike...

You sure can, you have a couple of options there...as well as moving the rear sprocket inboard...if needed or as needed.
