Oh. My. God.

I just happen to know where I can get one of these.

6 blocks away. In my parent's garage. It belonged to my maternal grandmother, and I took many rides around town with her in the 60's, running errands. Originally black with a red interior; still runs and drives, but it's been repainted a God-awful metallic magenta with an ivory top, and the interior is an off-white ribcord with little embroidered roses (Mom's idea). Gotta see if I can find pics...

We're not a club. Clubs have rules. Pay dues. Wear hats and shit.

Rossi, you are going to need some serious air flow to that FJ engine..
...perhaps a water pumper would be a better choice?

Those are cool little cars...a fun project for sure.....wonder what he does for reverse?

I came across the YouTube video a couple of months back when I was perusing anything FJ related. Combined with the the running/unrestored look I thought it would be the coolest car on the block. Just need to substitute that French hipster soundtrack that's now forever in my head.

Reminds me of one of my earliest memories. We had an old Isetta sans engine rotting in the back field.  With 2 or 3 brothers pushing on the back and one in the front, it was our first taste of motorsport.  My first driving lesson at 5 yrs old.  I think I drove it into the ditch. Not the last time I did that.

Cheap easy way to do reverse is to mount a gear to the side of the rear sprocket and use a starter

That is a cool looking car.  Better than a karman ghia.

Put a 302 in it.

I'll bet its light enough you could open the door and push it back with one foot!

Not really. It's a lumpy, tinny, anemic little turd of a car. 785cc rear engine, swing axle like a Porsche (with the usual lift-throttle oversteer), shift lever the size of a Number Two pencil about a yard away, and a tendency to rust.

It's got character, though.
