Can I repair 84 FJ 1100

The Diaphragms in the carbs have had quite a few repairs to pin holes but I'm wondering how this effects operation ? Is it feasible to fix 4-6 pin hole in each one and still work properly ?

If they have so many holes constantly creating, I think there is no point in repairing them. Probably the rubber is gone and it will just keep failing. Buy new ones and you are in the business.

New or used the emulsion tubes will need to be changed. The flat bottom slides are not offered new OEM or aftermarket. Later model diaphragms will mean you need to change the emulsion tubes as well.

Hey Randy ..just out of interest what wears in the emulsion tube or how do I check too see if they actually do need replacing ?

Here is an old thread discussing the wear of the emulsion tube.

What I was saying about the emulsion tubes is that the tube and slide themselves are different from the 84-85 to all other years. If you put the newer style slide diaphragm units in (which if you are replacing yours are the only slide diaphragms still available) you will need to change the emulsion tubes and may possibly need to re-jet the bike as well. But at a minimum changing the slides will require changing the emulsion tubes.
