We had a great weekend. Ended up with twenty one in attendance in one form or another.

I want to thank everyone for attending. My wife, family and Pam for their support in hosting.

We had perfect weather, the roads as always never disappoint and we used some unconventional cooking methods which produced probably the best Tri-Tip I have ever eaten.

Thanks again, it is always a great time.

Here is a little summary of Friday night activities of the 2106 Renegade Rally Hosted at RPM.

So, as I already posted, the "Fab 5" of Father Pat, Cap'n Ron, a FJmonkey, Simi-Ed and some guy named Ramos headed out for a freestyle ride to the north. They went up and did some scouting for the 2017 WCR.

I think Ron is asking Pat..."Do you think they are ready to go?"

I then heard Ed thinking as those two finally pulled away from the curb..."I really hope they know where they are going"

Ramos is thinking, "Man I miss my Ol' Pink Striper...this is like Ol' Times..."
Monkey is signally that he is going to try and ride one handed for the whole ride...

They left, so Robert and I kept prepping for the incoming riders. Dinner was served and everyone seemed to be thumbs up. (Even Pam...)
Yes, that is monkey screwing around and tipping his chair back on the back legs just like when he was in school.

Dinner is complete and we are still awaiting the late arrivals.

Finally about 7:30 Andy rolls in. He jumps on the food and heads into the fray of story telling.

Ramos is telling Andy, "you just wait until NYT TRN2 get her new RPM engine, I'm gonna be faster than ever"... Andy is nodding his head in agreement.

Monkey is educating new member redbeard. It looked to me like Monkey is explaining to him "when you are installing RPM fork valves you have to twist to adjust the damper rods so they are set to the medium setting and they have to be the same setting". By looking at redbeard he is thinking "is the 'D' rod the same as the damper rod...?"

If you look carefully in the background, you can see Ramos keeping an eye on Pat as he was looking under the cover where the top secret parts are hiding.

Here's Pat saying to Kjell, "dude check this out, I think this might be the new engine Randy is developing. It is supposed to make close to 500 HP with Mikuni carbs, air box and stock exhaust".

About that time Cap'n and Ed overhear that statement and Ron appears to be in disbelief.

They both jump up from the table and go directly to Kjell who is now asking Ramos about this new engine development process. Ron is talking so fast, his jaw is making his head nod and arm shake. Ed on the other hand has tired of these questions as he already has enough horsepower from RPM to lift the front wheel whenever he wants... (right Andy)

Ron has a moment of clarity, he puts his left hand on the bible, raises his right hand and says, "I swear I will not tell anyone" as he continues to grill Ramos for information. Ed is telling Kjell, "when I twist the throttle, my front wheel of my bike comes up like this" as he raises his hands over his head.

Mike then goes right back to telling Cap'n, "Look, if you think that new RPM motor is powerful, just wait until NYT TRN2 gets her new engine" as he caresses her as the surgery continues. I heard Ron asking Ramos, "do you think it'll fly?"

Kjell then took Ed over to wifes new V-Star and asks him, "Do you think Randy is going to make an engine like that for this bike?" Ed is still thinking, "Man I love my RPM engine that lets me wheelie anytime I want".

Kjell then goes to Monkey and tells him, "Ed just told me that his engine is so powerful, the front wheel come up like this" as he raises his hands over his head. I am not sure if Monkey believes it...
If you look carefully at the right of the photo you can see Pat. He is rubbing his forehead and thinking to himself..."I should have never looked under that cover..."

Kjell then tells Monkey, "you know I heard when Randy builds these engines, he drops a magic bullet down the oil fill". Redbeard then turns to Pat who is standing to his left and asks him, "Did you hear that, Randy puts a magic bullet in the engine when he builds them."

Monkey then tracks down Robert and asks him a few questions....
1) "Is it true your dad is using magic bullets in the rebuilds?"
2) "Does that beard grow naturally?"
3) "It looks so soft, do you use conditioner on it?"

Robert answers, "Yeah, we have magic bullets, Yes it does and I don't, but did you ask redbeard?"

Pat then went outside to admire my other son Ryan's new 2016 Mustang. He asks Ryan,"Does this thing make as much horsepower that your dad's new FJ engine is going to put out?" Ryan says, "No, but my 1000hp LS powered Miata I am building will..."

About that time the phone rings, it is late comer Mark O. He advises he can't make it down tonight due to work and Ol' Zari is not going to make it at all. Mark says he will ride down in the morning to join us. I called everyone together and they ran into the shop to hear the news.

That is all for tonight, stay tuned for Saturdays adventures.

There might have been one or two liberties taken in the telling of the tale, but that is how I heard it all

Was it possible to get a seat at that table without facial hair?

Allow me to be the first response to your first post Chandra. The Renegade 2016 was a truly magnificent event from start to finish and we (I think the collective we would agree) thank you and all concerned helpers for the sterling effort put forth. Organization was faultless, roads chosen excellent, views points reached panoramic, food a fabulous feature, fire a roaring thermite inferno, Ryan's ride a real pony express, Rob's beard a frightener of small children, Randy's routine an insomniacs nightmare and your tales of dotty old German folk a humanistic hilarity.
Long lived the Renegade and all those who met, rode, grew wiser.

Very glad I made the "surprise" trip down.  Was good to see everyone, and Pat finally noticing I was there after 10+ minutes was classic.

Randy, Chandra and crew put on a great rally.  Worth every minute of the 1,400 miles of driving for me.  :)
