Hi All
I'm looking for a rack to suit an 84, most brackets I've seen have fittings for later models mainly the 1200, apparently tail frame is a little different.
Can anybody suggest what will fit or is there a modification to those existing brackets from the 1200.
The Wingrack looked good but no brackets to suit.

Givi has a specific top box rack for FJ 1100. Maybe even Randy has it?

Check out the Australian Hepco & Becker distributor. There is a FJ1100 specific rack available.

Thanks Fred,

Not as sporty looking as the Givi but they Will Fit the 1100 without modification,
also looks like a good range of boxes, just have to choose which is best and suits what I need

They do remind me of my old set of Craven racks which were good, with a quick release for the panniers making them suitcases back in the 80's

Alan, are you looking for a general rack or a mounting system for panniers?

Evening Noel

I've been missing a rack for quite a few years now, with the FJ just always used saddle bags due to I couldn't modify my old Craven set.

So I would like to have option of adding panniers later to what I get, so at this stage I would say Mounting system.

They aren't cheap but thinking back 35 odd years ago my others weren't far off today's prices

Alan, i agree that the newer GIVI bags and even the rack are much more aesthetically pleasing than the Hepco. Unfortunately GIVI has discontinued the mounting brackets. Here is a shot of my Hepco set up with the newer Junior Flash panniers. The top box is a GIVI E470 knock off.

G'day,

I have included a link to a few pictures of the sort of rack I have, very strong, carries a lot of weight.  They are a universal one designed to fit most bikes, and 2nd hand they are pretty cheap too.

Gareth, that is a "Gearsack" rack. They are fantastic, you could carry a spare FJ on one of those. At one stage I was buying every one that came on eBay, I ended up with 5, the most I ever paid was $50 for an as new example. I use one for trips and another I modified for my top box and swap them around as required.

Best rack I've ever seen, and as you say, will fit anything.
They stopped making them years ago and I've never seen anything like them since.

That would be nice Gareth as I have a mate that keeps trying to give me his gearsack to use but I don't have a rack to fit it.

Yes Noel, I wish I had that spare FJ to carry.
