Another video for Day 2 Saturday Sept 24/16.  This is Centennial Lake Rd which was also featured a little in last years video.  So again it's the whole road this time.  I F'd up on the title and included Matawachan Rd, but this is where the video ends.  The guy in charge of continuity (me) didn't tell the editor (me) that the director (me) made a mistake.  I talk enough to myself already.  I don't need to listen to anymore than I have to.

Heading west. the sun was extremely bright to the point where I had to use my left hand as a shield.  My older helmet with the camera mount doesn't have the internal visor, and my shades weren't completely up to the task when we were heading right into it.  Last year a bear ran across the road in between some of the bikes, which I missed as I had slowed down due to my migraine at the time.  This year no such luck, but there was a clear road the whole way. 

There may be another short one to squeeze out for Day 2, and possibly for Day 3 in another week.

I forgot to include an the maps for Day 1, so here they are along with Day 2's.  You'll notice on the Day 2 map ther's an odd bit going down Buckshot Rd.  That will be explained in the next video...

A little diversion on the way back to the campsite down Buckshot Lake Rd.  The sun was getting low, the temps were dropping into the single digits despite how it looks.  We got back just past sunset with that chill that runs up your spine.  The last hour of the ride was the coldest I've been all year.  This global warming is spoiling us for now.

There was a lit up sign when we turned onto Buckshot that MOST OF US (all but one?  ) saw, that said the road was closed - local traffic only.  Well since then will a sign stop intrepid explorers.  When Sir Edmund Hilary saw "Do Not Climb Everest",  did he?  When the Donner party saw "Do Not Pass-Winter Coming" did they?  Well... maybe they should have listened to that one.  But you get the idea.

That's it for Day 2.  Maybe something for Day 3 can be salvaged in a while.

It was a nice ride down....  although, there was no detour or side road that could get us around the ....... missing bridge. Lol.  It was a nice ride back up, too..... ‎

So finally Day 3.  After three days and nights of riding, meat, and beer, it was time for everyone to filter home.  My only criteria was to "be home for dinner..." , but not before getting a few more klicks on the odometer.  Dan (A11anOn) had to start packing up the campsite.  Rob (Fuel80guy) had to leave to beat the traffic through Metro Toronto on his way back to the Niagara Region.  So once at the campsite exit he split south to the 401, while the rest of us headed north up Co. Rd. 38  to Sharbot Lake.  There we gassed up and Andrew (akinc) and his wife Michelle packed up the FZ6 into their custom camper/toy hauler trailer.  Now that I've seen it - I want one too!    They had at least another 4 hrs to go back to North Bay.  Charlie (Charlie brm) was then off to visit old friends in the area.  That left The Two Pauls to scoot around the countryside for a little while longer.


Day 3

Again the day was sunny and in the mid teens (deg's C).  We headed up Co. Rd. 509, which was also partially featured in last years video.  Again the video is of most of that road from Snow Road Station west to Plevna.  Nil traffic to worry about made for another nice road.  The soundtrack is for Charlie to get his Blues fix on.

Once done that we stopped for a quick bite (mine being the worst chiken burger I ever had  ).  It was mid-afternoon and it was time to head home.  As we headed down Hwy 41 we also parted company.  I would however get a final kick on Flinton Rd.  A nice little stretch as long as you don't get stuck behind a car.  Which I did in the best twisty part.  Oh well, we were spoiled with the minimal traffic all weekend so all was not lost.  On the map it looks straight, but it's anything but.  By the time I made it to Hwy 7, I was less than 2 hrs from home, with a little luck.  Well, no such luck.  I hit the 401 to slab it home after 3pm just in time for the beginnings of all the thousands of weekend cottagers streaming back to Toronto.    It was a frustrating bumper to bumper grind for 3 hrs.  Last year I had the luxury of the scenic 6hr route looping north around all this shiite.  By the time I got home I had to quickly devise a ruse to placate the Missus.     Take her out for dinner.  Never fails.

Thanks to everyone who showed up: Paulfj03, Charlie brm, Fuel80guy, akinck and to Dan for providing our operating base.  A very special thanks to Michele for being a super trooper by taking care of some old sots with her breakfasts and that eccentric "Mexican" bean salad.    

Hopefully, next year we can get a couple more out and flesh out the field a bit.

I'm already starting to prep for winter storage, so this is it for any videos until next year.

You guys must have headed up 509 shortly after I parted company at the gas station on Hwy 7. I was visiting in Snow Road Station for a few hours until about 4 p.m. I didn't get in my door until about 10:30 p.m., taking my sweet a$$ time on Hwy 7 to Port Perry and westward, but pushing on none the less with very few stops. I haven't been out riding since!

I am ambivalent about getting at least one more ride in. I want to do some sound checks with the new mic. The forecasts keep changing day to day. Sunday is now supposed to be 40% chance of showers. At 12 degrees max and 35 km/h winds, that's a chilly prospect.

Good work on the videos Paul. I like the "boot cam." Factory Direct is still blowing out those cameras as of this weekend.

I see.  At $70 it's still a steal.  But getting the new roof within the next week or so....
