What is the best way to remove left blinker choke ring assembly? First my darn vibration weight won't unscrew? And the choke ring seems like it will break if I try to pull it off the blinker assembly. I wish I could just slide it off the end. But looks like that weight is not gonna let go. It's lefty loosely is t it?

I'm putting regular bars on my 1985.
Thanks dave

It may have a tab that is trapped under clutch master. Loosen the master clamp enough to allow the index tab to slip out.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

Thanks FJ monkey for help. I just got back to forum. I've seen that notch and hook you speak of. I got past that. But the choke ring on the 84-85 I think has to be taken apart by removing choke cable from the motor side. Not something I want to get into. So I just took my Dremel and cut the clip on bar under grip in two.
And slid the whole assembly off and slid on to new bars. Only problem is, clutch cable was to short. So I re-routed the cable and picked up tons of length. Now my clutch side is perfect and am working on the throttle
Side. It's sure nice to be able to sit up on my FJ now.

Not sure what you cut off. On the early bikes the throttle cable is two piece....very simple to work with...check your manual.

The notch keeps the assembly from rotating when you use the choke.....

The bar end weights are often rusted on...badly.  Sometimes a two foot pipe wrench is necessary.  Now I understand you actually cut the OEM bar off, correct?  Please send a pic of you handlebar mod.

Thx,

Jeff
