So what's the deal with the drain plug with a small bolt tapped in the end.?

The Yamaha technician screws a thermocouple into that hole to monitor oil temperature while servicing/adjusting things like carb idle mixture.

The bolts on the exhaust headers are for O2 sensors.

I changed my oil for the second time since I've owned this 91 last night... I'm scratching my head at the inconvenience of having to remove the pipes to change the oil. Next oil change I may try and weld a small stainless tube that will bend around the pipes to a petcock something cause that was ridiculous.

Also, was wondering if anyone had a side stand switch laying around that they might like to see go to a good home for a fair price? Mine was missing when I got the bike. Three times I've looked really cool taking off and turning left. Lol luckily I was going really slow, but I always wonder if I had been going faster... Ouch

Your pipes are after market, stock headers do not require removal to change the oil. Randy or Robert at RPM can get you a side stand switch to avoid them  :shok: moments.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.
