Rode a total of 380 miles today. Mostly in Wisconsin. Riding some of my favorites, and riding along the Mississippi River on the Great River Road. Great day for a ride. A Monday not to hate.

I've gone past this helicoptor a number of times, but never got up close to it. It's on some carriage of sorts, so I wonder if it runs, or is put out for show in other venues. Like my FJ1100, it's a survivor.

I got to ride in a Huey a couple of times.  Super Loud inside!
You couldn't hold a conversation with the person next to you unless you were wearing headsets.
One of the times, I got to sit in the side-facing seat with the door open while the pilot was performing a series of S-turns.....................That was fun! (strapped in of course) :wacko3:

Marty you are a lucky guy to ride the scenic Mississippi River road. I have ridden it many times between Lacrosse, WI and Dubuque, IA. There is a plaque at lake Pepin commemorating the invention of waterskiing. A crazy Norwegian strapped two boards on his feet and got pulled around  lake Pepin by boat. Beautiful area.
A pistol is like a parachute, if you need one and don't have one you will never need one again.

Alan:

I rode in a helicoptor too. A short ride at an air show. It was noisy, just as you've described. The one that I rode in, was one those bubble-looking ones, like you see on the show MASH. The doors were off of it, which made for an interesting, albeit short, ride.

Hi Dave:

Yes, some of the scenery along the Great River, is pretty nice. I was down more south in the area you commented about, and it's good along there. A lot of small, interesting towns with history are on the river's banks. I always thought the it would be a great road trip, to travel along it.

Where I stopped in Wisconsin on Lake Pepin, is pretty much across the water from Lake City, which as you've noted, has it's claim to fame as the birthplace of waterskiing. Pretty body of water, and a nice place to take a break along. As you found out.

That's our Huey I am re-fuelling in my avatar pic.

Its actually the civilian version - a 212, converted to a single engine by Eaglecopters of Canada.
Amazing piece of gear. We use it mainly for heavy lift long line jobs for the power transmission companies here in Aus.

Best its lifted to date is 2.18 tonnes.

FJZ1 1200 - It'll do me just fine.
Timing has much to do with the success of a rain dance.
