Super Brace Shortage

I ordered a super brace for my 86 a few days ago to find out that they are no longer available. Tried two sources with same results. Apparently they sold that last of the Mohicans a week or so ago and do not intend on making anymore for the FJ. Not enough of a demand. If they get more calls they may make some, but was told not to hold my breath. Was wondering if someone may know of a source that might have some on the shelf or if others in the group were interested maybe we could generate an order.

Anyone aware of a similar product?

Mike,
I found this yesterday--Cycle Solutions Online--I've never delt with them.  However they've got Superbrace's advertised as FJR1100/1200 (1984-1993)  for $136 which would be a good deal compared to direct from Superbrace.  Of course I don't know if these are FJR braces or FJ braces.  Maybe they are FJ braces and they've still got'em because they've been advertising them as FJR braces?

I ordered one some days ago and I got this email (below) from Superbrace yesterday. I chose to take the black one--Maybe they've got more black ones?

The FJ 1100/ 1200 SuperBrace #1125 has recently been discontinued and we're out of stock. We do have the Vivid Black in stock, if you need immediate delivery. Can you please let us know if we need to cancel your order or send the black at no additional cost.

Anyway, good luck.

Anyone have a good one to loan out for reverse engineering? I can make engineering drawings from the parts and then any good machinist can fab up one. Any takers?

Anyone know the radius the bolt-on deflector is bent to? I have some Kydex and need to make a couple deflectors for mine, need to know so I can mold them to the right curve...

Mark,
Thanks for the tip I will give it a shot. I wonder if anodizing can be "polished off"?

Mike, Anodize can be removed. It is partially penetrates into (less than a thousand of an inch) as well as deposits on the surface. Depending on the lack of smooth surfaces that are easy to polish it can also be removed by etching. But this leaves the surface frosted, not shiny. Either way the part ends up slightly smaller and lighter after the surface removal. Many anodize colors are just dyes in the metal and heat fades the color as well hardens the aluminum. My company works with many anodizers so I learned a bit about the process.  Red might be a nice color if your fender is Red. Maybe get it powder coated a color of your choice. Easier than polishing. I have a sample of the silver we use if you want to see it on our next ride. Let me know.

Are we still on for the race this month?

As it turns out Sunday is best for me. My wife asked if I could help her with something on
Saturday. I was going to get my ticket once I get there.

Sunday it is then, but I can't park next to your bike till I clean mine up. Maybe I will bring a cover.... It is hard to park at 80 mph at night in the snow:wacko2:
