I completely agree with the sentiment expressed by Copper (but not necessarily the manner in which he expressed it ) about derogatory anonymous posts, it's childish. If you're not happy about something to the point of feeling you need to say so, have the balls to put your name to it.

While it was an unnecessary post, it's hardly offensive. You can burn him at the stake for all I care but I am curious to know what transgression he's committed be "dealt with in the appropriate manner"
This policing action appears to be without precedent.

Pat, Anyone who can use the appropriate "too" needs no spell check!

Okay, I have resolved the issue and deleted the majority of the posts associated with it.

Obviously the account was created to create an issue with me, my business and now the owner of the forum; no other reason. Unfortunately the person who created the account is not a stand-up kind of guy to properly handle his displeasure. Maybe if he would have made a true post, sent me a PM or email I would have liked to have know what his issue is. But to just create a post to degradate/slander will not be tolerated.

I will have the same action if another "new" member pops up that says (add name here)Sucks. I will take all of those as a cowardly attack and they will be deleted.

If someone has a problem, please let someone know. We have a new moderation team that have the ability to address issues. If they cannot address the issue, they can bring it to my attention so the member does not have to address me directly. I would hope everyone would have enough courtesy to do at least that before starting a "new" member that is inappropriate.

As far as the spell check, I will check into it, I did not even notice it was gone.

Overall, I don't understand the hostility toward advertising on a web forum - especially for a very modest payment I can make it go way.  I don't even get that choice when I pay a lot more to see a movie, watch cable TV, drive on a road (paid for with tax $$), buy a magazine, etc.  In all those cases I'm paying to receive the advertising - and don't have an option to remove the advertising.  When did it get to be such an issue on the web?  Especially if it is not "chasing" me on the screen or covering up the posts or directing me another window?   :flag_of_truce:

In my opinion, this is boiling down to the age old issues of: "You can't please everyone all the time", "Not everyone will always agree", and "What is reasonable?".

In dealing with these issues, transparency is often the best recourse; and I thank you Randy for sharing with us your reasoning for making the changes you did.  Obviously, many of us are comfortable with them, whereas others aren't. I would just ask everyone, that before you decide to leave the forum,  please make sure that your making a reasonable decision (based on your beliefs and values), and not a rash one.

... great advice for most any situation.  I think Brexit and our current fiasco of an election indicate more reaction than reasonable decision making.  Responses are always best reasoned out and, if possible, tested with a bit of feedback from others.  Here's my feedback on the subject:

This community is a treasure of friendship and information I'd gladly pay for even if there was a mandatory minimum donation (hint).  I did think that once Randy took over the forum maybe it wouldn't require donations...  but the economics (thanks Randy for laying it out) don't make that work out too well.  Randy could have made the forum cost part of RPM overhead and baked it into the pricing of his parts, but he's too honest and forthright for that kind of trick.  Instead he spells it out and admits he's going to keep it going regardless of the group's contributions.

Thanks Randy for your support of these fine machines and their fine owners.  I'll continue to enjoy my ad free experience...
