So, after cleaning out the slave cylinder I noticed that the bore, while appearing to be smooth, is matte rater than shiny.

Is this a problem? Is it going to make it leak?

I've used a fine grit emery cloth, or wet/dry sandpaper to clean up the bores on a number of clutch slaves over the years. No leaks afterwards.

You can even finish it with metal polish (Mother's, Semichrome, etc) for a real nice shine and seal.

Keith C and I both had had slave failures on the same day at the ECSR several years ago, so we had a rebuild race, using the emery cloth method to finish the bores.  Not sure about his, but mine lasted for a good long time.
