Brake pad shim

Did anyone else have pad shims that went on the back side of the brake pads?  On the back of one of my rear pads, there was a thin, beat up, metal plate with an arrow that looked that the attached pic.  The other pad didn't have one and I forgot to put the one I had back in when I reassembled the system and bled it *Facepalm*.  I haven't ridden the bike yet, so I could reopen the system and put it back in.

So I guess my questions are:
- Do I need it / should I put it back in
- Am I missing one / if so, what is the P/N to replace it


The bike is an 85 FJ1100

No, you don't need it, it's an anti squeal shim.
