Thanks all for putting up with me.  racerman_27410, the "pace" was great for me.  It made things make sense.  As some stated, I do some of the things already, but it was good to see it in print so I could understand why I was doing it.  As far as the jokes about being a pylon, I own an FJ now, so at least I can be a fast pylon.  :yahoo:

its not about being fast.... its about being smooth, picking good lines thru the corners and staying mentally in the game and aware of your surrounding at all times.  :good2:

your FJ only wishes to transport you in comfort, safety and style....but it can only do that if you are in absolute control of it.

I look forward to riding with you in a few months :good:

The local sport riders (young) around here remind me of the "squirrels"  :bomb: of old. They ride by my trailer park at night, pull the clutch and share with us the sound of 15,000 rpms, repeatedly.

you can tell FJ riders are much older and mature, we only turn 10,000 rpms

Alrighty then. Brought the '89 home today  :good2: What are the roads like up in the White Mountains these days. I am thinking about playing hookey from work one day next week?   :bye2: Would like to try out the rally route. Anyone know?

the roads should be cleared off, i can see MT. Washington from my couch and there is still a bunch of snow on it, looks like rain over there for monday and tuesday and in the 40's for the rest of the week. might want to wait a week, i may be able to meet you over there and take the ride with you depending on when you decide.

hey guys just got  back from Bethel i visited the pleasant view campground, i couldn't ride through the place because there was still snow and ice covering the camp sites. there is a good size area out back that would make a good spot for the fire, the couple of condo's they have are a little ways away, and the motel is up the road a little ways too, but i guess there is a trail in the woods to get there.

it doesn't look like we would be able to be grouped together in one area, if we decide to stay there we should make reservations quick lots of places are booking up already, i didn't ask what was available for that weekend, looks like there should be plenty of tent sites and i may just be in the motel anyways.

it was a good sign when we pulled in and the owner was sitting on the bank with a beer in his hand, seems like we would fit right in.

i also checked the saco thing for that weekend (july 15-18) and according to the web site all the cabins and cottages are available making it possible for us all to stay in a group. but its not close to the mountains.

That place was cool. I think it will be a great place, the field out back should be plenty big to do what we want to do. if we move quickly and get a big part of the field reserved for us (better for the party).  those who are camping

condos 200 yard walk, motel 500 yard. he did say that he would give us group rates even if we are separated.
They both seemed like real nice people

I think from saco most of the ride will be coming and going. plenty of good places to drink & eat, yes BarbQ too in bethel (less traffic)

OK, who has reservations where at Pleasant River campground in Bethel, Maine? I'm going to call them and I want to know where we're grouping up, plus make sure I get the "group" rate. I'm fine with a tent spot, hope for good weather. What about reserving the field, do we need to pitch in funds ahead of time for that?

we haven't made the reservations yet, as we are waiting to hear from one last place. pleasant view is on RT. 2 in west bethel.

we probably will all have to pitch in for the group/bonfire site.

Are North East Rallies so popular we need 4 threads to talk about them?  :unknown:

Well I just penciled this onto the calendar.I got the FJ running reasonably reliably last fall and this sounds like a fun weekend.I live in nearby NH and I have driven, but not ridden through a lot of Maine.

i was wondering why there wasn't anyone from NH interested in this,  :drinks: glad to have you aboard.

also i have to throw this out to everyone interested in the North East Rally, we have the weekend scheduled, (16'th and 17'th)

but a couple of people have talked to me that are going to the rally and have expressed problems with the Friday-Saturday ride.

it seems one person can make Friday at the last minute (showing up that morning) and another person just got called into work

on Friday (the 16'th).

so what i was wondering is can everyone make the ride Saturday and Sunday (17'th-18'th).

if this is a problem for anyone we will keep it Friday and Saturday the dates scheduled.

if everyone is a little flexible like me, we can make it easier for a couple guys to be there for both days.

i want to hear from everyone about this before we change it. so please speak up or PM me and let me know how you feel

thanks

Either one works for me. I can work Friday and leave from work and get to Maine around 9:00 Or do them same on Thursday. Not taking a vacation day for me would be better, but not getting home Sunday night late and having to go to work Monday is rather inviting. Hell put it to a vote, seems the fairest way to me :good:.

At the risk of agreeing to something else and being labeled "easy",  I am going to quit my job so I can make either date. Hope unemployment accepts that as reasonable cause. Definitely good to add a day for more participation. Traffic likely lighter on Thur for travel and Fri for riding, but I know "traffic" is a subjective term up here. A vote sounds right so no one feels left out. Has Bethel been agreed on over Saco?
