Am I better off spending more for Yamaha carb parts or do the aftermarket needle seat carb parts
fit and work just as good, thank you Dave. ( for my 85 fj1100)

Randy at RPM, (see banner add above), has rebuilt way more FJ carbs and won races with them than any of us combined. He can give you the best advise on the parts he finds reliable and how to tune carbs for proper performance. So many have messed with carbs and discover they cannot get them quite right. How much time and effort do you want to spend messing with the carbs? My second FJ an '89 has carbs rebuilt by RPM. They run without any issues.

absolutely positively NOT !!! get with randy get the yamaha stuff.

I put the Keyster in. Couldn't find OEM in EU. Pretty cheap and works fine. But I definitely couldn't get the carbs work properly after I removed them so I had to get the bike to a specialist for fine tune up. After that, all is well.

Well, it really boils down to what you want and are comfortable with. I actually sell more of the aftermarket needle & seats, but probably more due to price. But Yamaha dropped the price early this year and they are now much closer in price to the aftermarket.

There is a difference in the needle itself as the aftermarket one is longer. The screen is also a better qualtiy on the Yamaha unit.

Randy, are yours also Keyster's or from some other manufacturer? I've noticed that the needle itself is longer than original, but when I compared the length in general, with the needle in the seat, it was the same. 
And I didn't get the new screens so I've put back the old ones.

I use a different brand, but I have used the Keyster as well. All of the ones I sell have new screens.
